Description I've taken a bound, cloth covered book and embellished it with polymer clay and various found objects and glass gems. It reminds me of a flower and the gems are sparkling droplets of color...of course it is open to your interpretation. )

I hand painted the book with acrylic paints and attached the polymer clay plaque securely to the top cover. It measures 5.75" x 8.75" and has 100 pages lined on one side and unlined on the other for drawing and writing.

A lot of weirdness coming from me lately...but I just love the abstract shapes *grin*

Thank you very much! It doesn't take much more than a bit of clay, an oven, acrylic paint and odds and ends. Go for it!

Thanks! I loved that one too and it started out as something totally different...but my 'art' seems to have a mind of it's own.

I have admired your journals for quite a long time. My question is: what do you use to stick the tiles to the cardboard/paper?

Thank you so much! I use an adhesive called Weldbond. It is a white glue that dries clear and is very strong.

Oh, thank you so much! I'll google it to see if I can buy it, or if anything has similar ingredients.

This one is very different. Usually you use a lot of color in the clay.
...almost haunting.

Perhaps it is ghostlike in it's lack of color...?

Gorgeous. I like the woven bit over the glass gem. They're so well attached without being squashed against the surface at all.

To me it looks like water and life just welling out of a desert floor.

You're always brilliant I just keep wondering how you'd store those journals, I'd be too intimidated to write in them and would end up framing them instead

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MandarinMoon In reply to magpiesmiscellany [2010-04-15 23:11:28 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much! I wonder how people do store them..hmmmm...I've never kept one of my own yet.

I can't imagine that. If I had your skills it'd end up being 'one for sale, one fore me, one for sale, one for me...' You could cover matching tins to store them in safely!
