Iris opened her eyes. She had collapsed for what couldn't have been more than a minute. Yet despite that, she didn't recognize anything around her.
"H-hello?! Where am I?! Can anyone hear me?!" Iris Anxiously shouted out of confusion.
She could barely comprehend anything she could see. Everything was so dark and huge. Looking up there was, nothing but it wasn't space, no it was different as if there was no sky at all. Everything looked so unnatural, so cold. She couldn't tell what was alive or dead. That's when Iris started to piece together what had happened.
The last thing she had remembered was shrinking on Dawn's finger and then falling. Had she not stopped shrinking after she collapsed? Looking around this had to be... the microscopic world. Iris had always been a little bit of a germaphobe ever since she looked under a microscope for the first time as a child. The thought of becoming a microbe sounded like a nightmare, but seeing it become a reality was so much more terrifying than anything she could've imagined.
She had fallen for at least a few seconds before she collapsed. Could she have fallen to the ground? Then again she was so small she could've fallen a couple of micrometres and landed in one of Dawn's finger grooves. At this size it was impossible to recognize anything.
Despite all her panic and fear, Iris managed to gain composure for a moment.
"Ok Iris, you're a gym leader. Focus if anyone can get out of this, you can, forget how... Insignificant you are right now, and think. What can I do?" Iris thought to herself trying to think her way out of this.
The 'ground' beneath her squelched when she took a step.
"O- oh my god, that's disgusting. I can't stay this size even if, even if..."
A thought came to Iris, it was risky but she had to try something, anything. She decided to try the growth spell again. The cursed magic book may have gotten her into this mess, but maybe it could get her out of it. Maybe. Last time she tried it, she almost ended up crushing Earth by accident, if she tried the spell again she could end up at normal size... or she could end up finishing the job. But at this point the fear was too much too much to worry about consequences, if she got too big she could just shrink down again until her height stabilised.
She recited the growth spell.
A second passed.
And another.
And another. But nothing happened.
"W- what? Did I misremember the spell?" She tried again.
Nothing.
"N- No! I can't be stuck like this! Come on! Work you stupid spell!" Iris screamed, the panic started swelling in her again and it certainly didn't help her think.
Iris felt a presence behind her.
