Thinking of attempting Maj. Ocelot. Where'd you come by the main uniform? Or at least, what kind of uniform were you searching for? I'm not too familiar with military type stuff, so I don't know where to begin.

The main uniform I made some of actually! The shirt was a pattern from Simplicity I believe, I'd have to look it up again but it's actually a pretty easy one.

The pants are just baggy ones that I tucked into my boots :'D I'm still looking for a jodphur pattern (the name for the pants he wears, but you could also make them by taking baggy pants and make them close fitting from the knee to ankle.

If you have more questions let me know! (As a side note I should let you know I've been working on this costume for almost five years now, so there's a lot of little odds and ends that I've gotten for it)

Hmm. Never would have thought to go with a pattern. That's actually not a bad idea.

Thanks. X3. This might just end up working out for me after all.

No problem! With the dear Major, it's mostly a lot of small details. For the shoulder boards I used some pieces of cardboard with felt stretched over them secured with hot glue. Worked out pretty well!

your cosplay is really good i'm working on a female version of young ocelot and i'm planning on making the beret, but i've never made one before so i'm not completely sure what to do lol. i was wondering if you made yours and had any tips you could give me? ^-^

Thank you!
I didn't make mine, and I wouldn't recommend doing so unless you're a professional hat-maker! There are two reasons for this:
1. The pattern for a beret of this type is EXTREMELY (ie probably impossible but it might not be) hard to find.
2. It would be more authentic anyways to get a military type beret from an army-navy store.

Basically, any army-navy store worth it's salt should have these Navy-style berets in stock (should be 100% wool! NOTHING ELSE). When you see them in the store they will look like a flat pancake! But that's only because when you get these types of berets you are supposed to fit them yourself for the best custom fit!

The beret MUST be wool for shaping it to work, otherwise it isn't going to do anything. Basically, heat water as hot as you can stand having on your head, then soak the beret (except the trim). Put on your head and push/pull to the desired shape.

There are more detailed tutorials out here for shaping berets (look for ones aimed at US service members, since you'll probably be working with a US beret).

Hopefully that helps! And if you have more questions feel free to ask c:

i found a pattern online for military berets and it said to use a plate to shape it XD lol but i think it would be a lot easier to just buy one. i'm not sure where any army-navy stores are though haha but i'll look. thank you for the advice ^-^

Nice. The pose and the look on your face fit perfectly.

Thanks! I'm thinking of completely remaking the shirt honestly, it's a tad tight and the collar isn't quite right, but then again I'm always wanting to do tweaks to this cosplay since I love it so much

It's really weird how naturally the poses come to me though... Guess I'm a lot like the character :'D

Yeah. That's usually how I am with my cosplays as well. I'm always looking for ways to make it better. For connecticon this year I'm doing launch from Dragonball.
