Photog here. I would never photoshop a cosplayer in this manner unless I was specifically getting paid to do an over the top, stylized photo manipulation. Otherwise, it's absolutely against what I enjoy and care about in cosplay photography. I can assure you with my entire being, the ONLY shoop in this photo are the colored lights and some filters. None of these girls even needed retouching.

It's just so ridiculous to me that gets so much crap for her body looking how it naturally looks. Some angles/poses/lenses are going to exaggerate it more than others, but really? Just look at all her other photos and photos that others have taken and tagged of her (she has NO control over those). Her body is the SAME in EVERY single one and she's absolutely gorgeous! Every body is different and I'm sure you wouldn't want yours critiqued and nit picked on the internet like this. Leave the girl alone and let her enjoy who she is<3

Oh my goodness gracious you people....are jumping to far to many conclusions.

First off, let me start out with it's nice that you think that cosplay photography should have little to no photo manipulation done to it (I'm including any touch ups to lighting and such as well). I'm a fellow cosplayer and when I see edits on shoots I've participated in, they all look nicely cause no one is being touched but the lighting and some filtering effects.

Second, my original comment was NOT an insult to the cosplayer (though I do see WHY you people think of such as I failed to mention my reasoning). If you bothered to read my reply to the cosplayer in question, you would see that but instead, you're jumping down my throat, throwing your accusations in my face. Quit it.

I'm not going to look through her gallery just to see if her ankle is as such in every picture. I've merely commented on the fact that her ankle does look abnormal in this picture. In my own head, I figured it was just due to the angle of the photograph itself and left it at that until you decided to jump in and freak out.

I'm NOT giving this cosplayer "crap" as you so put it (nor am I even critiquing her nor the cosplayers themselves). If I was, I'd be trolling all over her photos. I don't treat fellow cosplayers like shit. I only pointed out a fact because SOMEONE ELSE pointed out her ankle. I wouldn't have noticed other wise.

I'm not stupid..so don't treat me as such.

no one is freaking out here except you. ari responded to you in a perfectly calm manner and you bitching her out is not cool. quit it.

no one is calling you stupid so stop trying to make other people look bad just because you said something that could be easily misconstrued as offensive. doesn't look natural? yeah that's generally seen as a negative thing. you made a mistake while commenting, not a big deal. don't be a bitch about it

This is why I almost always stay out of these conversations. I appreciate you clearing up your comment, because it most certainly could be taken in a negative way. As I'm sure you know, and understandably, cosplayers are going to be sensitive about a comment like that. Most people do not understand angles at all, so it was easily assumed you were commenting with the notion that she was shooped. This is not the first time this has happened to this cosplayer (it has carried over to her tumblr as well). I felt more compelled to reply because it's been questioned whether -I- did the photoshopping. I wanted to be VERY clear that this was not the case. So, didn't mean to jump down your throat, although I don't think my comment was at all "freaking out", just merely making a point from my side. I also did not infer in anyway that you were stupid<3 I am sorry if you misunderstood my tone.

ps: When I said photo manipulation, I meant heavy alteration to the model(s), background, and other effects. Touch ups, filters, and lighting fixes are seen more as basic editing as opposed to photo manipulation, which is an actual term for this style of heavy editing. I'm a professional photographer who strongly relies on Photoshop for the nature/style of my work. I'm not an extreme "photo purist" so to say.

And with that, I've said what I needed to. Bowing out.

Calling someone's body "unnatural" is typically seen as an insult. I know you didn't intend for it to come across as such, but what you said could be (and clearly was) construed in a negative manner, and both the cosplayer and photographer responded accordingly.

These are two kind, lovely girls, and they were hurt by what you said. They weren't "treating you like you're stupid"; Brenda was defending her body, and Ari was defending her art. They did not make any derogatory remarks towards you. Take a breath and think about it from their point of view, rather than assuming that everything they said was a personal attack against you.

those are my real legs, the photographer wouldn't just photoshop my legs and no one else's lol. you can look at my other photos if you want i swear they're not shopped
