This is just something that came to mind.... I wanted to do something to invoke a feeling of sympathy, thus the title. Overall I'm fairly happy with the piece, though I know there is room for improvement.

This is representative of my first foray into the world of Painter IX. I gotta say, I like the program (aside from it's willingness to crash). It makes it very easy to get into digital painting.

Done from scratch in about 2 hours, with a mouse.
