It's true there's more freedom with fiction. For me it depends, like if it's already part of the show (for example a cop show where they solve murder mysteries) then I'm fine with it because it's already part of the show. But if the show doesn't have it to begin with, and the author brings in unnecessary killing later on, then I don't like it.
I personally don't like it, even in fiction, but we all have different views when it comes to that. ^^

I see. Sure can agree though that unnecessary killing always sucks. There needs to be purpose to it, damn it!
