FLS Summer Sonnet x Robin

The first breeding from what I'd like to call my summer of love. This is not the super secret breeding, but it has a lot to do with it. You'll all find out soon. Yes, yes, I have an epic story planned. I won't be showing for a while, unless it kinda just happens, so all my efforts are focused on practicing.

By the way, this is not the background I was looking for.

The Story
The air was warm and the afternoon sun bright as the Firelight truck rolled up to the gate of StoneHeart-Stables, not that they could see the sun through the thick canopy of trees. Aithne drew the vehicle to a halt and put the handbrake on as a man rode over atop a pirate-looking horse. The small woman rolled the window down and leaned out to talk to the man. "Hey there," she said with a bright smile. "We're from Firelight Stables, we've brought Sonnet for her covering from Robin." The man smiled at her and nodded.
"Sure, you'll have to unload your horse and follow me, the Nightmares will guard your truck," he said as he turned and trotted towards the gate on his horse. He halted to wait for them and Aithne cut the truck's engine and glanced across to Adam in the passenger seat. He was staring out of the window, his eyes glued on a glowing entity in the trees. He could see the orbs and it's devilish eyes. Aithne had seen such horses before at shows. Nightmares truly were terrifying creatures. They had both been warned that StoneHeart had a lot of the creatures guarding the gates and the stables themselves.

After Sonnet was unloaded, she stood nervously before the gate of StoneHeart, her ears swivelling in all directions and her muscles trembling. Her coat was pale and dull in the shadows of the trees, but her eyes seemed to be gleaming with terror. Aithne hushed the mare softly, running her fingers in gentle circles along the mustang cross's neck. Sonnet didn't like Nightmares one bit. After a few minutes, they began to walk on towards the stables. The man on the horse led them on through the trees, and Sonnet pranced nervously next to Aithne. The small woman gripped Adam's hand tightly as the man limped beside her. He had recently come off his crutches, but Aithne was worried that the walk would be too much for his leg. Sonnet suddenly shied to one side and Aithne followed her gaze to see a Nightmare watching from the darkness, its orbs and eyes gleaming. The woman shuddered and coaxed Sonnet on. The sooner they got to the stables the better. The trees and darkness pressed in on them, the silence deafening. Aithne longed for a bit of sunlight, just a crack of light through the trees, anything. They had just driven through dense forest, and now they had to walk through it too.

After what seemed like hours, but had been minutes, the trees thinned and broke, and light shone down on them from a clear sky. Sonnet lifted her head and flared her nostrils before giving a shrill whinny as she smelt the other horses. Aithne patted the mare's neck and led her on again. She could only hope this covering worked, because she would not be happy if she had gone through all that just for Sonnet to reject the stallion.

The world was bathed in a golden light later that afternoon as they took Sonnet to meet her stud. Robin was in a paddock surrounded by trees. The grass was lush and long, whispering gently in the soft breeze. The mustang stallion lifted his head as he heard them at the gate. He called over to them and began to walk over. Sonnet lifted her tail and called back, beginning to paw at the ground with her Arabian neck arched. Robin came right up to them, a handsome specimen of his breed as he flared his nostrils to take in Sonnet's scent. The mare reached out her neck to him, giving a shrill little cry as his nose touched hers. Aithne smiled and slipped off the mare's headcollar, letting her loose in the paddock before returning to Adam's side at the fence. Sonnet gave a shrill whinny before bolting off across the paddock with a few joyous bucks, Robin hot on her heels with his tail held high and flaring out behind him like a banner. Aithne watched them for a moment, her head rested against Adam's arm. The man had been very quiet that afternoon, but Aithne was used to the days where he didn't say much. Sometimes he just had a lot on his mind. "I can't wait for the foal," she breathed softly as the two horses circled each other. "It's going to be beautiful. And Mythica's, too. Two special babies," she said with a grin, her eyes bright as she looked up at the man. He grinned and looked down at her, wrapping his strong arm aroud her shoulder.
"Two new members of our extended family," he chuckled, his hazel eyes bright in the golden sunlight. Aithne nodded with a soft grin and looked back to the pair who were touching noses over by the trees. She felt herself swell with happiness, wrapping her arms around Adam's waist as the day began to fade in a flush of golden light.
