His eyes starred at the fire, questions forming inside his head. Why hadn’t he attack the woman? Why hadn’t the music affected him?Why hadn’t he protect those he loved?!
The fire in front of him changed shape for a moment, allowing him a glimpse at Y/N. You were laying on the floor with the hands of the heir of the clan over her wounds. “How is she doing?”asked Kiba.
The young man from the clan just nodded.
“What is that supposed to mea?!”he growled.
“Calm dow, would you,”demanded the heir. “I’m doing my best.”
“If it hadn’t been for you, she wouldn’t be hurt! How do you want me to feel?!”
The young man growled heavily before concentrating more chacra in his hands. “You’re shinobi,”he whispered. “Aren’t you suppose to be used tho this?”
“This?”
“The death of your comrades.”
The young man didn’t look at Kiba, and he was happy he didn’t. For his eyes held fear in them. His mouth slightly open. How could this man talk like this? Didn’t he know what it felt like to lose a friend?! Of course, he hasn’t, he is nothing more than a spoil boy.
“I know what you’re thinking,”he continued. “And no, I’m not just a spoil kid. When, I was young my father died during battle. He was a shinobi and he was doing nothing more than protecting our clan.”
Kiba was about to answer when Y/N’s eyes open slowly. A soft cough escaped your lips before you sat up. “Ouch,”you whispered. Your voice cracking at the end.
“You should rest,”ordered the young man. “The battle has affected you more than I thought.”
Y/N nodded before the young man, and went towards his tent. Kiba sat besides the h/c haired girl, a smile plastered in his lips. “You took quite a long nap there,”he joked.
You didn’t laugh, but just look at him. Y/n is angry, he thought sadly. Suddenly, your warm hand rested on his cheek. Her e/c locked with his, “Are you hurt?”she asked.
“No,”he whispered.
He grabbed your delicate hand in his. “No-nothing,”he stutter. A scarlet color gaining over his cheeks. Y/N chuckled lightly before turning around.
“What is so funny?”demanded Kiba. “You almost gave your life to protect all of us!”
“Shut up,”you replied.
He was quickly taken a back by your answer. You turn your sight to the fire that was feet away from you. The flames seemed to form a beautiful pattern. “Y/N-”he whispered.
“I’ll die if you died, Kiba. Don’t you see it?”
He was speechless at your confession. Both of your visages were burning red as two traffic lights. A long pause took place before he spoke again. “Do you love me?”he asked softly.
You nodded, but ti seemed he didn’t understood. For he grabbed your chin in his fingers, and moved it slowly so that you two were facing. His lips barely away from you. Both of your breathings colliding against each other. “I- I need to go rest,”you answer before pulling away and heading inside the tent.
Kiba was left surprised as your figure disappeared inside the tent. Akamaru made his way beside the boy, he had been hurt pretty badly on the fight, but nothing too severe. The dog barked which caused Kiba to came back to reality for he didn’t believe that he was that close to kissing Y/N. A sigh escaped his lips as the once little pup licked his cheek.

The next day both of you had woken up early. You knew Kiba would be waiting for an answer which was the reason why you stayed with the heir and not him. He was ahead of you with Akamaru,checking the perimeter for any enemies. As much as you smiled an answer the young man, you secretly wondered how you were going to face him once the mission was over. When both of you were left alone to return to the village.
“So, tell me,”started the young man. “Who do you like?”
A red crimson spread across your cheeks.
“Wh-why do you a-ask that?”you slurred.
He smiled at you.
“I can see the way you look at your partner,”he continued. “That look in your eyes contains warmness and pure love when you star at him. I have seen that look only once.”
“Wh-when?”
“When father would leave to missions and mother would kiss him goodbye.”
With those words Kiba came back to report on both of you. No enemies were detected, but he seemed unsure of it. You knew why as so did the others. He had lost his confidence on his abilities to track people. Akamaru walked over to you with little cries being heard by you. You petted him softly in the head before nodding, both of you were going to find a way to help him before the mission ended.

The day had finally arrived when the four of you laid eyes on the Land of the Vegetables. It was time for the heir of the clan to get back to his family and loved ones. As always, Kiba walked ahead with Akamaru, for if the four of you were seen together it could attract attention and who knew what kind of ninjas would be roaming the city. “It is my last day with you,”stated the heir. “I have just one question left. Have you decided on what to do?”
“If you refer about Kiba, I do know what to do.”
He gave you a breath taking smile. “You know he does seee you more than a comrades, right?”
You nodded as you tried to fight that blush on your cheeks. “He won’t let you die that easy, I can assure you,”he continued.
“Nor, would I,”you answer. “Tadao-sama, you sure have been a great help for me.”
Tadao, the heir of the clan, smiled at her. They reached the place where people of the clan were already waiting for him, “Y/N-chan, tell Kiba I give him my gratitudes. Both of you have done a great, and I’m sorry for all the hardships.”
You rubbed the back of your head, waving him off with a smile. Soon the man went on his way, and you went to find Kiba, It was time to settle things. To make him have his confidence back, and to finish the business of that night.
After searching for a good time you found him petting Akamaru in the corner of a street. “Kiba-kun!”you yelled, announcing yourself. Kiba glanced at you while a smile appeared in his lips. Your happiness seemed to be contagious.
Calculating the distance wrong, you felt over his chest. A chuckle escaped his lips as he got worried. “I’m fine, Kiba-kun. I assure you!”
He smiled at you before wrapping his arms around you.
“I think you won me something,”he whispered on your ear.
“Um-hum,”you answer. Your breathing over his hot skin. A shiver ran down his back. He never shivered that easily, but,come on, he was with his greatest weakness.
“First, one thing,”you started.
“Yes?”
“Promise me to believe again on yourself.”
“What do you mean?”
“That you would believe in your abilities to track.”
“If I knew it, I could have saved you from almost death.”
“But, I’m not dead, Kiba-”
“If it hadn’t been for Tadao-sama.”
You pulled away only to grab his face in your hands. Leaning closing to him, you spoke again. “But, I’m alive. And for the rest of the trip, you had been keeping us safe. Just promise it, please.”
He sighed heavily before accepting.
“And now your answer,”you whispered. He smiled at your words.
“Do you love me?”he asked.
“I-I do,”you answered. Instantly, you connected your lips with his. The kiss was just a quick one, but it was enough to leave a goofy smile in hi slips. Akamaru barked loudly as you hid your visage on the crack of his neck. “This mission could not be better”, he thought.
