Description Inspired from the movie "The Cove". Aproximately 23.000 dolphins are killed in Japan every year. The dolphins are trapped in a small bay and then trainers come to pick the dolphins that are good for water-parks. The rest are killed for their meat. Dolphin meat has a very high concentration of Mercury and can cause ALOt of damage to the human body.
R.I.P. dear dolphins

Edit 1:
Listen yall. Many people have told me that this image should me on mature content filter. So I searched abit on DA to see what it says. Matura content is used if there is blood in a picture. But IF the picture has quite alot of violence which mine doesn't. So SUCK IT UP !!! My school's biology laboratory is full of brians, fetusus, animals in jars including a chicken with it's belly ripped and it's organs showing. If a little blood is too much for you to handle then I don't wanna know what happens when you fall down/trip and bleed. JUST because something has abit of blood doesn't mean I should hide it from the world ESPECIALLY when alot of you watch movies completely FILLED with blood...you don't complain there. so GET A BACK-BONE PEOPLE !!!

hunting for the meat is one thing. excessive hunting which leads to the slow demise of the population where they are brutally killed or sold off to aquariams is not acceptable.
We can eat meat without driving the animals to extinction.

Yes there's entire studies and documentaries about this. Infact some areas where dolphins used to be hnted in Japan have had to change to another source of income because they ran out of dolphins.

Dolphins are cruel and sadistic creatures in their own right, but I still agree with you.

you should have put this on warning so i would have known not to look at it because it has violence and more than other peaple's art i've seen but they should stop huntng dolphins

They put the hideing for violence for real violent pictures. This isn't really violent. My original picture was alot more violent. But I decided to stick with blood only.

oh then thank you i can't imagin how violent the original would be i wouldn't wanna i'm not a big fan of violence

Marahuta In reply to corathedragon [2011-11-13 19:05:33 +0000 UTC]

neither am I. But since it's not really violent and only has abit of blood I didn't put it on "hide" because if I do almost nobody will look at it and this is not something that you find easily. unless it just pops into your head one morning to search about Japanese dolphin slaughter...

The0World0I0See [2011-11-09 06:30:41 +0000 UTC]

This is positively depressing. There's quite a few other fish to be eaten besides a dolphin. Well, in this case, mammals (cows and pigs for two). Also, if they're cruel/stupid enough to eat the dolphin meat, maybe they deserve the damage? If they know about it and they still eat it...? No hope for them...

Marahuta In reply to The0World0I0See [2011-11-09 16:29:25 +0000 UTC]

thing is they don't only eat it themselves. They descise it as whale meat and sell it world-wide.

I don't understand how the Japanese could be so cruel.
America, yes. But Japan? C'mon... Not only that, but it's harmful to the human body.
I suppose every nation has it's own problems. Even the Japanese.

Marahuta In reply to Patchouli-Rolling [2011-11-09 05:37:22 +0000 UTC]

They know it's harmful but I don't think they really care about it. All they want is the money.

I know exactly what you mean. I did my junior year research paper. I love Japan and it's people but I cannot accept that they are killing hundreds if not more dolphins just because they are considered pests and a nuisance. It's completely horrid!

Marahuta In reply to gothicvampiress75 [2011-11-09 05:30:21 +0000 UTC]

And not only that. They even sell it to schools to give to kids so that they think killing dilphins is part of every day life. They even descise it as whale meat so others go and buy it. >.>

TheRamosOnline In reply to Marahuta [2011-10-29 17:56:53 +0000 UTC]

Call me cruel.
I'm mostly okay with this.

Perhaps its my Autism, but due to the fact that I just outright fail to understand the concept of emotion all the attempts to win me over with this have failed; I saw right through this as I did with all those videos about animals being slaughtered in inhumane ways for us to eat.
The music, camera angles, time of day and shots used are all picked specifically to make the situation seem worse than it is, that's how they get this stuff to sell/cause an uproar in the public.

If you asked me a few weeks ago I would have been completely okay with this, but I recently found something out about Dolphins; they appear to have a concious.
Dolphin males have been found "kidnapping" young females and using them for sex, they also have sex for pleasure. Dolphins have also been found tormenting another animal and having fun while doing so (the animal eventually died and after a while of playing with its corps they got bored and swam off).

But at the end of the day, circle of life. Animals kill other animals in more inhumane ways than we do, the only reason people seem to react bad to us doing it is because they think that because we can make the choice we should say no.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Marahuta In reply to TheRamosOnline [2011-10-29 18:26:59 +0000 UTC]

no, it's because humans have the choice between acting as inhumane as other animals OR do things right and not mass-murder and send to zoos. Dolphins die from stress in water-parks. And saying that dolphins rape is actually a bad excuse for one simple reason there is no "rape" when talking about animals. Dolphins don't even make life long bonds like humans. Every time they're in heat they will mate with a different male. Thay don't get married. Humans onthe other hand will even rape children under the age of 8 (pedophiles). They will kidnap kids and use them as sex-slaves or sell their organs. Humans also torture not only other species but their own species aswell. They will even let you on the road to die if you can't pay for your life.

The problem isn't just the killing. It's the how and how many. There's another village in Japan (can't remember the name) that did the same thing with Taiji. They had many dolphins but now they have none left.

You mean you didn't hear about it?
owo
Well I guess the media didn't make it big cus its a rather dark topic, but a group male dolphins kidnapped a female calf from its mother and over the course of many years bred with this one dolphin.

Marahuta In reply to TheRamosOnline [2011-10-29 19:33:42 +0000 UTC]

so you're talking about one group ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheRamosOnline In reply to Marahuta [2011-10-29 20:04:01 +0000 UTC]

One group so far but it's not something we actively look for.
It was discovered by accident, so who knows how many other cases there are.

Same thing with a group of them tormenting and eventually killing an animal. Once we were aware it happens they began to find more and more cases of what was previously never heard of.

._.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Marahuta In reply to TheRamosOnline [2011-10-30 08:25:34 +0000 UTC]

You didn't. However before saying a species is a cruel killer that only deserves to be killed. You should first prove that your species is better than it. Or that species is no more of a killer than you and your species is.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheRamosOnline In reply to Marahuta [2011-10-30 10:12:16 +0000 UTC]

I never said they were a species that is a cruel killer, I merely gave evidence supporting the fact that have a concious hence why I'm not completely ok with mindless slaughter of dolphins.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Marahuta In reply to TheRamosOnline [2011-10-30 11:17:28 +0000 UTC]

so...you gave evidence of cruelty to support that you're not ok with cruelty ? O.o *is confused*

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheRamosOnline In reply to Marahuta [2011-10-30 12:41:26 +0000 UTC]

Yes.
To be able to choose whether you are nice or bad. To be able to consciously commit act of cruelty.
Until recently the only animal able to show this trait is us, Humans.
The fact that Dolphins are also able to do this proves that they're not just intelligent but they have a conciousness.
To kill a Dolphin is to kill a being that understands pain rather than responding to it defensively.

The only reason I'm not completely against it is because, as I had said, the circle of life can be far crueler to animals than we can.

What the video you linked me DOESN'T show you is that the Dolphins are hit in certain areas to kill it quickly. It only looks like they're suffering because of the selected camera angles. In truth, they're finished quickly, mostly to avoid a struggle. Naturally the younger Dolphins splash about and try to jump over the nets in fear, they aren't actually the injured Dolphins.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Marahuta In reply to TheRamosOnline [2011-10-30 13:50:54 +0000 UTC]

Circle of life is one thing, killing in masses is another.

First of all, have you even seen the movie ? And Secondly in the same way why not set 23.000 people in a line and shoot all of them in the head ? They all will die instantly...And the angle has nothing to do with it. Watching a killing doesn't make it any different if you watch up, down, right or left. It still remains a killing.
