Description Panthera pardus orientalis.

Native to SE Russia and NE China.

These cats are breathtaking, and this particular adolescent male was prince-like with regards to both his beauty and his demeanor. However, he has not quite acquired the calmer presence of his father.

I was fortunate enough to spot a leopard in South Africa 2011, and I admit to being very proud of that. However Amur leopards are a bit different, with thicker fur and sometimes bluish eyes. There are only 35 left in the wild...If this species of leopard goes extinct then mankind will really have something to be sorry for. I sincerely hope that does not happen, for example Asiatic lion numbers got as low as 12...and thankfully are now in their 100s (however this presents other problems, such as inbreeding etc..). The Amur leopard is one of the most beautiful of all cats in my opinion.

Excellent shot, the way his face is in focus and his look up and to the left makes the shot come out well, and of course the teeth being displayed add to his prowess.

Thank you for the compliment. I will hopefully soon be retraining, so that in the future I will be a position to help with their conservation.

he really is, it is shocking the low numbers of them in the wild, i watched an Attenborough (not sure if thats how you spell his nam) program a few years ago and then there were 45 i think, it is so sad that numbers are still falling, they are beautiful majestic cats and it would be incredibly sad if they became instinct
