if I wanted paint her, what would I use; let's see: white, raw sienna, maybe some yellow ochre, black of course, some sort of mixing of yellow and green for the eyes

They are expensive, but worth the investment if you know how to control watercolours.
This set includes 8 colours, so one would need to purchase an extra white (Chinese white), and a black (I always use Ivory black as it is the darkest). I mix to get any other shades of colour I require.

well, I"m gonna give watercolors a long rest--already have--at least until I get a DVD instructional course, am better when I can see it being done
I can tell you I have rarely seen ivory black at Michaels, the arts and craft store I go to. Chinese white? Titanium white must be acrylic. Yeah, I have some cheap, just remembered, chinese white that came in a cheap set. I've had these watercolor paints awhile; will they still do the job?

Yes they will, it is better to practice with the cheaper paints initially anyway.

I have a bit of money now--can't saw how--but I may get both Bob Davies' acrylic AND watercolor DVD sets. I've seen some of his mini vids; he's good. He's personable, too.
