Description
We interrupt our regularly scheduled oil painting update to bring you what Marbletoast did on Saturday instead of painting.Photoshop fantasy creatures.
This is a male fevin. A fevin is a creature of my own design, though obviously based loosely on deer and lions. Sort of.
These animals are my still-waiting-to-be-approved adoptable on PonyIsland. As I said earlier, PI is a game primarily about caring for digital life, and it's addictive. You can also trade and "sell" adoptables--animals and things drawn and colored by other members. This is an adoptable I have decided to try.

Ooh, such a nice species design! I really, really like your coloring/shading-- as usual.
You ought to break away from outlines. I mean, look at his flank and mane regions! They're totally clear, and have no outline at all! Contrast that with the bugger's eyeball and horn, where the outlines kind of make him look more... not cartoony, kind of video-gamey. As my art teacher always said-- in real life, things don't have outlines; they're a crutch for weak artists and cartooning in general. You can handle real life.

You can make adoptables without outlines by drawing the adoptie on a violently colored background (like, say, bright fuscha or something else you wouldn't be using) and later magic wanding the background away. That way you can keep your edges crisp without resorting to lines. It's a pain, though, so I don't blame you for just outlining

I like the dual horn colors, and the lion-esque coloring scheme.
