As with most of Gosselin's work, intense and accurate details present an image that is unique and ultimately foreign to the viewer's mind. In this image, what is in his mind may be a bit more transparent, since the background resembles magnified brain tissue. The additions of an eye and tendrils further complicates the mystery.
The chimp is calm. A kind of curious wisdom in its eyes. It seems to be gently inspecting the dog. Its canine friend is quite calm as well, almost smiling as it pants. Nature loves to present such unlikely companions from time to time. Perhaps this create some extra curiosity for the viewer, empathizing with the chimp.

The best one is when Koko is choosing a mate. They show her different grey backs from different zoos on a television screen, and she literally picks her fav grey back.
