i WANT a coat like this. Did you use a pattern on this one? Or do you sell your own patterns? Or how much do your commissions run?

Greetings! This was made before I knew how to do patternmaking. I used Simplicity #4923. You can find these at local sewing stores or online.

I must ask, is it made from a pattern? Or is it another one of your original creations?

How much would one of these cost? Can you do a custom one(i.e differnt colors and big floppy collar)?

hmmm I don't know how much one would cost. For one thing, this isn't actually something of my design, it's just a comercial pattern that I used to make the jacket. But I think it would be... $100-200

Really? Where'd you get the pattern from? Got a link to a site?

It's a simplicity pattern, supposed to be Captain Jacks costume or something. Look at [link] You can also find it at other websites and definitely fabric stores, just search for the pattern number 4823.

Nice!
to your question: I think a jacket like this could fit into the socalled "golden age of pirates" which is something between 1530 and 1650 (sometimes till 1700)

omg this is awesome. A great cut and design. Perfect choice of fancy trim on the waist etc. It is ultra cool to have an incredible belt and great boots to match the quality of this jacket.

I would be proud too, I have a pretty sweet pirate outfit that I've pieced together, but I didn't actually sew it, all except one peasant blouse I use, and I know how much more proud I would be if I did. Corsets are hard to sew though >.< I need sewing lessons or something.

As far as time period goes it is maybe 1750-1770. however, you've mixed and matched a bit so it's pretty hard to pin down. The cuffs and longer skirt suggest an earlier period like 1750 or ever 1740 but the lack of collar sets it apart...
