Yeah, when I use the original scanned lines I can delete the white background to isolate the lines, then use contrast and brightness to make them extra dark and visible, but the problem is they're not very smooth; tends to look more dusty. This new style I'm trying looks much cleaner, though it also kinda looks like it was done in MS Paint xD

Hmm... Have you tried to use a vector graphics program like Adobe Illustrator? And then to take your scans to that program (of course with the contrast and brightness manipulated) and to vectorize with "Live Trace"? The process may render exactly like your original drawing, but if not, you will have to vectorize manually. In other case, there must be another way, I think I read a tutorial for that but I don't remember where I read it.

Sorta... got it from a friend but it won't open things, so I can't get it to work. I've got Gimp that I use mostly, and Paint.NET is loaded on here too

'Cause I was gonna say that you could use a blur tool to smooth the lines but I'm not sure.

Ah true, yeah, Gimp has a blur tool, which I used to use to smooth scanned lines. For scanned lines, I used to isolate them, darken them, blur them, resharpen them, then color. Oughta try that on the next drawing... most likely that'll be Tyr'ahnee, I did a new pic of her with a better pose ^^
