Now with a background! Because of this, please do not extend the canvas, OK you guys? I've tried to give enough room for everyone to add their characters, so don't be afraid to get in close! XD

It's time for the Original Character Block Party Collab!

Do you have an original character? Do you like art collabs? Do you like the 1950s? Then have I got a little project for you!

I'm starting an open-ended art collaboration for people with original characters. It doesn't matter if your original character is fandom, nonfandom, fantasy, science fiction, anthro - you can participate! All you need to do is add your character to the above scene, in 1950s fashion. (You can find out more about 1950s fashion on wikipedia: [link] )

I want to run the collab all summer - until September 22, 2012. Do you think we can get 25 characters in this scene by then? Let's find out!

How it works:
1. Sign up in a comment below! This is to keep the picture consistent.

2. When it's your turn, I'll send you a note with a link to the most-recent edition of the collab.

3. You will have one week to add your character, otherwise it's time for the next person in line! If you didn't get a chance to add your character, you can try to sign up again later!

4. Your character must be in 1950s fashion. Otherwise it's a no-go, ok kids?

5. You can add up to 2 characters maximum. No more!

5. This is a happy place! Try to keep things PG13. No excessive violence, nudity or gore, kk?

6. Just in case we're not clear: Your picture must be your own work! No doll bases or doll generators. Kind of ruins the point of a collab otherwise, yes?

7. When you're finished, send me a link! I will upload it too and link to you so other people can comment and +fav.

8. Be sure to credit all of the deviants who have participated, and link back to the original so people can sign up here!

Q: Do I have to make a new OC for this?
A: No! Use your favorite one!

Q: My OC wouldn't exist in the 1950s, what do I do?
A: Doesn't matter! Draw them anyway! Revel in the cute 1950s crack!

Q: My OC is from -insert fandom here.- Can I enter?
A: Yes!!! Do it!!!

Q: Why the 1950s?
A: Because it will give the characters and you a theme to work with, so we don't have Sailor Gunbloodcross X chillin with her angsty self next to a high-fantasy queen in her regalia. And because I felt like it, darn it!

Q: Can I draw more background?
A: Yes!! Do it! Just don't cover up anyone else's character!

Q: My drawing is going to slightly overlap someone else's. Is this okay?
A: Sure, as more characters come in it is going to get more crowded. Just don't cover up more than 1/4th of anyone else's character.

Q: I'm not the best artist. Can I still participate?
A: Yes! Just put forth your best effort!

Q: I'm a traditional artist but I want to participate! How can I do this?
A: Scan in your drawing and send it to me, I will add it in for you!
