A bit of nostalgia here...an art trade with evanescentnight. She did this ([link] ) for me.My rendition of the characters from the well-known K.A. Applegate book series Animorphs (characters belong to her and the dozens of authors who contributed to the stories).
From left to right: Jake, Cassie, Marco, Tobias, Rachel, and Aximilli Esgarouth Isthill (Ax).
I, like many others, was very excited for the premiere of the Animorphs tv show but was disappointed by how it sucked at translating the books into live action (though I do appreciate the effort). I was equally disappointed when they took the show off the air after what seemed like a very short time. Fortunately, I found this link, below. Every time I see the beginning, just before they sing the first chorus, I get shivers because I'm reminded of the scale of importance for the five teenagers to fight against an invading alien force. Not knowing who's your friend or enemy, constantly keeping to the shadows and secrecy and trying to stay alive while thwarting plans concocted by the all-time awesome villain, Visser Three.
Yes...I'm a nerd. I blame my love for books.

YES!!!! I've finally found someone who loves the Animorphs as much as I do!
Also, great job on remembering the spelling of Ax's full name.

It's nice to see some ani-art on here worth it's salt (Most I've seen are, well, pretty bad looking.)
Even for done in paint and being an older drawing, it's great!
My only minor grip is that Marco should look shorter, but other then that, love it!

Great Pic! I loved the series, but I was born a little too late and most of the earlier books were out of print (Seems like that with lots of things I like) and cause of that I never had the chance to see the TV show, but my younger brother somehow got to see and told me it stunk. Considering they're remaking so many old books and movies, ya think they can give Animorphs a second go? Maybe as a movie this time

And yes, you'd think that it would be more than possible with today's technology to recreate the Animorphs with a movie. Perhaps the tv show put the whole series in the dirt, but then even that technology was big back then. Still, you have movies like Avatar coming out with out-of-this-world effects and it makes you wonder just how awesome they could make an Animorphs movie, even one so crudely based off of the series like the Dragonball movie was.

Maybe they will, who knows? Considering the way people are so intreged just by the cover, perhaps they will make something (PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE) it's got to have at least as much potential as this Avatar movie

Very true...and I'm looking forward to that Avatar movie too...well, both really. The movie with the blue creatures and then the adaptation of The Last Airbender. THAT one should be great! And I'm a big fan of Shyamalan.

Uhhh...who's Shyamalan? But about the Last Airbender movie, I heard there was some controvery over the actors that were picked. I think it was something like all the actors were caucasian when all the characters, except Aang, are obviously not caucasian. I dunno it was apparently some big deal that made alot of people angry

o_O Haha, Shyamalan is the director for that movie...he also did Lady in the Water, The Village, The Happening, The Sixth Sense, and Unbreakable. I like most of those movies, and I'm sure he did a few others as well, but it'll be interesting I think to see his directory skills combined with the Airbender universe. I heard about the controversy; that all the characters were offered, at first, to all white actors when they were supposed to be Asian. But I'm SO grateful that Jesse McCartney will NOT play Zuko. Instead, Dev Patel will play him and, ironically, all the subsequent actors for the Fire nation are of Indian heritage. Still, it should be a great movie.

Well if its bad there's still plenty of other movies coming out in 2010 I don't mind seeing, The Lightning Thief, Wolf Brother, for the first time in years I'll actually WANT to go to the movies

Thank you! Which series did you prefer...the tv show or the books? Personally, I liked the books better. Although, I do have to admit that at one point, I started reading number 33? - the one with Rachel as a cheetah - twice and fell asleep while reading both times.

I was always a fan of the books, never really got into the TV series though Shawn Ashmore was the perfect choice to play Jake

Ah, yes. The TV show was horrible. But the series is great. Awesome picture, but should Ax have so much tan fur?

Yeah, perhaps I gave him too much. I've had complaints about Jake too, so maybe I'll fix it up and update a newer version. I do appreciate the crit. though. I just seemed to remember Andalites having barer patches of skin on their torso. I'll make it more subtle.

I think their fur gets more tan as they age? And Ax is still a kid so I figured that he would have less tan fur.

Wow, that was scary. o_o I got chills too because of that...I wish they didn't start singing...it ruins the moment... Seriously, I keep playing it on that part, haven't seen the rest yet ..It makes me think lol, I'm a nerd too, yay.
But now that I see the rest, it seems like with a little tweaking it could be even more epic-to the point of maaajor goosebumps; the words are good, but the music, the guy's voice, and the kids-that-look-nothing-like-my-images-of-them don't go well together. :\ Seriously, my mental imaging of them is perfect, I wish the producers could've seen.

Thank you! But yeah...I know...heh...I guess I didn't think about that when I drew him. Just a mistake with shading and crease lines in his shirt. Maybe I'll fix it someday.

Crazy, ain't it? I recently watched a clip on youtube that had nostalgic openings for old Nickelodeon tv shows...and there was Animorphs. I was so surprised to see it and so excited to remember how big of a deal it was for it to come out. I knew you were always a sucker for the series (be it movie or book - mostly book) so I knew you'd like this. Sorry about any mistakes or sucki-ness in drawing, but this was the best I could do in the amount of time.
I actually had to draw Ax's behind on a separate piece of paper because the paper I was drawing on was too short...I just scanned separately and moved his butt over to finish him.
