The new Team Avatar groupI am so excited for this show! Since I first started watching the original Avatar: TLA show a year ago, I completely fell in love with just about everything about it. Up until now I have seen Avatar about 10 times now. In this new series, Korra is the Avatar who journeys alongside her two companions Bolin and Mako in the new United Republic city to find an airbending master. Along the way they encounter a threat of equalists known as Anti-benders and their leader Amon. I can't wait for next year to see it.
In this picture I decided to draw the three main characters of the show each one depicting a different element. I'm very pleased with Korra's pose and Bolin's expression ( drawing Bolin is so much fun but I kind of messed up his eyes a bit ). I'm not too sure if I did a good job with Mako, he looks really stiff. Overall, I wanted to achieve a dynamic composition amongst the three of them. I also added the series logo/title but its not exactly centered. Please let me know how I did on this. comments, fave, and critiques are appreciated.
Done with drawing pencils, micron pens, sharpie, color pencils, prismacolor markers, and touched up in Preview.

The earthbender is Bolin and the firebender is Mako, they're brothers too. They're also characters from the upcoming Legend of Korra show.

The characters look great! And I think you could make the picture even better by blending the edges of the elements in the background a little.

sorry for late reply. Even after one year since I first started watching Avatar, I'm still completely obsessed with it.
Thanks for the feedback, I worked really hard on this piece. I tried to blend the edges like you said but I used regular old color pencils so it didn't go well as planned. I could've used markers but then I thought it would blend too much with the characters and not give them contrast. Hmmm, I suppose photoshop could solve that issue as well. XD

Oh dear. Actually, soft pastels blend really well, especially by using paper stumps if you want to try that in the future. Just be sure to get some fixative as well to prevent it from smearing (or use it for layering too).

I know how you feel,i loved the original and i can't wait for the new one it looks so cool!! Nice job on this piece, i love Bolin's expression!! XD and the background is really sweet, awesome job!!

Thank you and sorry for the late reply. I actually began to watch the show roughly a year ago. Since then I must have seen the entire show at least 10 times!! I'm absolutely stoked for the new one too. Bolin's expression is my favorite part of this piece too, he's so easy and fun to work with. Mako on the other hand, no matter what I do, he always comes out looking stiff and tense. The background is just something simple I did using plain old color pencils but I wanted to blend them a bit. Thanks again for commenting.
