Description
I’m at it again with a fourth version of this meme. Mainly wanted to do it again because I’ve been expanding my interests in various series again and/or revisiting some series I’ve watched before.
So here are more pairings that I DON’T like for the following reasons
First version: Expanded I Don't Support These Ships
Second version: I Don't Like These Ships Ver 2
Third version: I DON'T Support These Pairings Ver 3
Because it's Annoying- Princess Peach and Bowser (Super Mario series)
I think this pairing being under this category is pretty self-explanatory. But if you don’t get it, then here is why:
Bowser constantly puts the Mushroom Kingdom and Peach’s people in danger by constantly kidnapping her. All because he wants her to be his. And he has the audacity to think that he has even a slim chance with her. Peach clearly does NOT like getting kidnapped constantly by him, even going behind his back at times to aid Mario in any way she can since she knows that Mario will come to rescue her.
I think it’s pretty irritating how Bowser constantly kidnaps the princess and thinks that she may like him even a little bit. So… yeah. It’s an annoying pairing.
Because it's Unattractive- Mabel Pines and Gideon Gleeful (Gravity Falls)
Mabel deserves someone better than this demon brat.
I hate Gideon so much because of what a psychotic, spoiled brat he is, and his obsession with Mabel brings him to a Gaston level. Mabel already is not interested in him, but no. He won’t take her turning him down, multiple times. He’ll threaten Dipper’s life, or even the safety of the entire town, if it means he can get his way, or get Mabel to be his girlfriend.
Yeah… I do NOT like this pairing XP
Because it Doesn't Make Sense- Emmet and Volo (Pokémon series)
Ummmmm…
Volo is the one who opened up the rift in Hisui. The rift is a bit of the reason to how and why Ingo ended up as a Faller in Hisui, getting sent back in time and losing a majority of his memories. And those lost memories include ones that involve his twin brother, Emmet.
So why the heck do people think it’s totally peachy to ship Emmet with the person who is technically responsible for him losing his brother through space and time? That just makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE to me…
Because They Don't Interact Much- Benthomaar and Vania (Ninjago)
I’ve seen people ship them, and I will admit, I think Bentho and Vania have potential as a couple if people do wanna pair them up together.
But not only do I already ship Vania with Cole, but I don’t ship her with Bentho because I haven’t seen the on-screen potential. I honestly wish we got them actually meeting, because even if it’s not to pair them, at the very least, I would’ve loved to see some friendship chemistry between them.
Yes, I have other pairings that I do like even if the characters never will meet. I will admit that. And I don’t necessarily hate the pairing of Bentho and Vania. I respect that others do, and I’ll admit that it has potential and looks adorable. But I don’t see myself shipping it. If anything, my standpoint on this pairing is rather neutral.
Because Their Beliefs Don't Coexist- Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong (Resident Evil series)
Leon is a pretty cool character throughout the series, while Ada is a character that I’m more neutral on since she goes back and forth between the anti-hero and antagonist role throughout the series. And yeah, they do have some pretty badass moments together in some of the games, but honestly, as a couple, I don’t think they could function as one.
Yes, I know Leon seems to have feelings for Ada, but given how he will do whatever he can to stop the outbreaks from taking over the world while Ada cares about the situation as long as she gets something out if it in the end, it’s clear that they have different views on the situations. Ada really only cares if she and a couple others are involved/ in danger. Leon cares if the stakes are so much higher than that. Their beliefs on what they can do with their lives and how they can handle the outbreaks differ a LOT, which is why I don’t think they could function as a couple.
Because of Subtext- Morro and Harumi (Ninjago)
I’ve seen people come to ship them because they have some similar aspects. Both were rivals to the ninja, but later chose to redeem themselves that resulted in their deaths. And for that reason, since logically, they were in the Departed Realm, they could’ve been a couple.
Well, I don’t ship it. Honestly, between the two, Morro had a better redemption, and he even kept his redemption when he returned again one last time. Harumi, she had a lousy redemption, and threw that aside to come back to life if it meant she could continue to torment Lloyd. And even her SECOND redemption was also short lived and lousy.
Morro learned from his mistakes and showed that he had changed for the better. Harumi went through two weak redemptions that seemed rushed or lousy. So yeah, I don’t ship it based on the “subtext” on their characters.
Because it's Abusive- Bolin and Eska (The Legend of Korra)
Poor Bolin. He clearly wanted out of this relationship when he saw how selfish, mean, and toxic Eska was as a girlfriend. Yet she kept on scaring him into staying in their relationship, to the point where he wanted to hide from her.
I’m so glad that he finally got out of this relationship by the time season 2 ended. Bolin deserves someone who appreciates his sweet and dorky personality, not takes advantage of it like how Eska did…
Because it's Rushed- Poison Ivy and Kite Man (Harley Quinn)
Even before Ivy and Harley got together, I honestly didn’t see any charm or sweet chemistry in Ivy’s relationship with Kite Man. We get little to no on screen interactions between them, and based on how much they interact, it honestly feels a little rushed. They even rushed into wedding plans. Needless to say, I’m honestly happier that Ivy starts dating Harley instead, because her relationship with Kite Man wasn’t that appealing to me because of how little to no interactions between them the audience sees.
Because They're Too Alike- Buggs and Cindy (Kindergarten)
Two children who enjoy tormenting their fellow classmates in malicious ways. Buggs is willing to kill someone and Cindy is up for tormenting a poor student past their mental limit, all if they can get their way and enjoy the torment of the poor sole that they bully.
It's hinted that they may have used to be a thing, but whether or not they were once a couple, they’re just way too evil for me to like the idea of them being a thing XP
Because They're Opposites- Emma and Ray (The Promised Neverland)
Even if they weren’t technically siblings since they were growing up in Grace Field together, I don’t think a romantic relationship with these two would work out. Emma is hotheaded but incredibly selfless, putting others before herself and wanting to find a solution that benefits everyone, including the demons. Ray, on the other hand, is incredibly intelligent, but rather anti-social and quick to give up. It takes him time to accept that there’s no convincing Emma and Norman to escape Grace Field via abandoning everyone else, because of how they want to save the rest of their siblings.
Because of how different they are, I think it’s better that they stay as friends and not become a couple. Again, even if they weren’t technically siblings, I still wouldn’t see myself shipping them
Because it's Canon- Prince Zuko and Mai (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
I like Zuko and I’m a little neutral on Mai, but for what we see in their relationship, it honestly wasn’t that appealing to me. I’m more neutral on the ship and I don’t hate it, but there’s very few moments where they show their relationship, which especially seems to lack communication and emotion, I didn’t see myself really liking the ship.
I’m okay if others ship it, but I can’t say that I myself can ship it,
Because it's Non-Canon- Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley (Stranger Things)
Let me point out that I love both of these characters and I love their dorky chemistry, especially in season 3 when Robin was first included in the main cast.
I really like how she wasn’t intended to be Steve’s new love interest, and even after she came out as a lesbian, that didn’t negatively affect their friendship. They still are work partners at their new job at the video store, they still kick ass together when anything from the Upside Down wants to kill them, and of course, they still provide support for each other.
So while I do not ship them as a couple (for obvious reasons), I still love their friendship and love how it wasn’t cast aside after Robin came out as a lesbian.
Because it's Disturbing- Ingo and Emmet (Pokémon series)
…
How many times do I have to make it clear that I don’t support incest pairings?
No seriously. There are indeed people who ship these TWIN BROTHERS. It’s downright disturbing…
Let’s just keep them as brothers, especially since they clearly balance each other out and love and support each other…
Because it's Out of Character- Luz Noceda and Hunter (The Owl House)
Uhhhh…
Luz is in a canon relationship with Amity, and it’s been hinted numerous times that Hunter may have a crush on Willow. And yet, despite the directions their characters have gone in, there are still fans who like the idea of them being a couple.
I like how Luz has come to call Hunter family. It seems more in her character, as well as how much Hunter has grown as a character due to the influence Luz has been in his life. Shipping them romantically just feels out of character to me. I like them having a sibling dynamic instead.
Because it's Cringe-Inducing- Andrea and The Governor (The Walking Dead)
I don’t like EITHER of these characters. Andrea has made so many fatal mistakes through her time in the show and the Governor was such a murderous hypocrite. And their “relationship” was more so a sham. The Governor only really wanted to keep Andrea under control and he did so well, Andrea didn’t think to kill him when he was clearly a dangerous individual who was going to murder all her friends just so he could be in power.
Back when I first watched the show, and even now as I am rewatching it, it honestly made me disgusted to see this sham of a relationship unfold. It’s why I decided to put it on this category XP
Because it's Bland- Rosalina and Waluigi (Super Mario series)
I think I’m the only Mario fan out there who DOESN’T like the idea of shipping them…
From what I’ve seen, people ship them just so that Rosalina can have a love interest, and they don’t ship her with either of the Mario brothers because of their connections with Peach and Daisy. But just because Rosalina is another princess character, that doesn’t mean she HAS to have a love interest. Also, I can’t help but question WHY Waluigi?
Based on what I know about Waluigi; he’s meant to be a bit of an “anti” form of Luigi. To put it simply, a bully. Why would someone sweet and caring like Rosalina get paired with someone like Waluigi? I just don’t get it.
Because it Lacks Emotion- Toadie and Mayor Toadstool (Amphibia)
I think I’m one of the very few out there who doesn’t support this pairing, and who still doesn’t like Toadstool even after his redemption in season 2…
But onto why I don’t like this pairing: it honestly appears to be one-sided, especially at the start of the series. Toadie clearly supports Toadstool, even if what the corrupt toad was doing wasn’t morally right or okay for someone who had such a position to do. And he got little to nothing in return from Toadstool.
Relationships, whether platonic like a friendship or indeed romantic, should have give and take between the two partners. It honestly seems like Toadie gives too much, and Toadstool only takes, not doing anything for him in return (at least until the time skip occurred in the last episode). That’s why I don’t find myself supporting this pairing.
Because it's Cliché- Ava and Asch (My Inner Demons)
Main male character with the female protagonist. Pretty self-explanatory, which is why I put it under this category.
Well, I mainly don’t like it because their personalities and ideals don’t seem like they can be compatible as a romantic relationship. Yes, I’m aware that Asch does care about Ava, and their friendship does slowly make both of them better people, but I think it’s better that they stay as friends honestly.
Because it's Too Melodramatic- Emma and Norman (The Promised Neverland)
Again, much like with Emma and Ray, her connection with Norman is technically familial since they’re technically siblings. But even if they weren’t technically siblings, I can’t see myself shipping them romantically.
It seems like these two have it the roughest in the series, both the anime and the manga, with the lengths that they’ll go to protect the other children and the allies that they make. They’re almost a little too selfless, to the point where they won’t let the other sacrifice for each other. It’s why I consider it a little too melodramatic for my taste
Because it Happened at the Wrong Time- Avatar Korra and Mako (The Legend of Korra)
Originally, this ship was gonna be put under the “rushed” category, but to fill out this meme as much as possible, I decided it best suit for this category.
Why did this happen at the wrong time in my book? Well, Mako was dating Asami, a relationship that he also kinda rushed into, and Korra was rather jealous. Yet they rushed into their relationship when Mako decided he wanted to be with Korra instead. They got together at the end of the first season, yet through the second season, they fight a lot to the point where they realize that they aren’t compatible as a couple.
I get it that they were both learning through trial and error about themselves and what they can be like when they’re in a relationship with someone else, but they still rushed into their relationship and took a while to realize that it was better that they stay as friends instead. Because yeah, them dating didn’t happen at a good time anyway.
Because I See Them as Friends- Dipper Pines and Wendy Cordoroy (Gravity Falls)
While I did think it was sweet that Dipper developed a crush on Wendy, I was still not fully into the idea of them becoming a couple. Still, I like how the show handled it between them. Dipper did indeed finally admit his feelings for Wendy, but she kindly turned him down and the two confirmed that they were still good friends and nothing awkward would be between them.
And see? That’s what I like about their connection. Despite the crazy stuff they went through before Dipper finally admitted his feelings for Wendy, they’re still good friends. The friendship between the two of them, I feel like that aspect is a little forgotten and underrated in the show. I like their friendship, and I think it’s better that they stay as friends.
Because it's Pointless- Dawn and Kenny (Pokémon Diamond and Pearl anime)
I’ll admit, I did once like this pairing and was interested in it. Childhood friends that could be more than that, especially since Kenny clearly has a crush on Dawn.
But… I lost interest in it because, it IS pointless. Kenny argues with Ash about what Dawn should do for her journey, rather than respect Dawn’s decision. He wants to settle what Dawn should do over a Pokémon battle, and even so, Dawn still puts her foot down and stays with her decision to journey with Ash because that’s what SHE wants to do for her journey. Kenny may be her friend, but she’s not letting him decide what she should do on her Pokémon journey.
Because it Hurts the Series- Dipper and Mabel Pines (Gravity Falls)
They’re TWIN SIBLINGS. And yet, I’ve seen that there are STILL fans of this amazing show who ship them romantically.
…
Yeah… I don’t support incest, so… seeing people ship the Mystery Twins leaves a bit of distaste in my love for the fandom. Shipping them hurts the series… DX
Because I Ship Them With Others- Aphmau and Zane (MyStreet)
I love their friendship. They have different personalities and complement each other, and they clearly support each other and help the other through their social lives.
If anything, I would prefer they stay platonic, or even come close to calling each other siblings. And besides, Aphmau is engaged to Aaron and Zane is dating Kawaii-Chan, and like with the category that they’re under for this listing, you can guess who I ship them with instead of each other. XD
Because it Panders to a Demographic- Willow Park and Boscha (The Owl House)
I am NOT a fan of pairing a character romantically with another character who CLEARLY BULLIES them. I already hate toxic relationships because of how one-sided and unhealthy they can be, so to add to why I hate toxic relationships it would include shipping a victim with a bully.
Boscha cares only about herself and is always mean to Willow. She has grown to the point of becoming overly petty because of how others have seen what a jerk she is, and she clearly doesn’t like how she can’t bully Willow anymore. Willow has grown a lot in the series, becoming a stronger character both in her self-esteem and her morality, so honestly, I think Willow deserves someone who respects and admires that aspect of her character. And that someone isn’t Boscha.
Because it's Overrated- Katara and Prince Zuko (Avatar: The Last Airbender)
I like both characters, and I can see why some people like the idea of these two being shipped together instead of the canon relationships that they’ve had.
But aside from it feeling a little awkward to ship Katara with Zuko while I already loved her growing relationship with Aang, I couldn’t see myself liking this pairing because, yeah, I think it’s overrated. They’re both pretty important characters to the series and how the war comes to an end, so instead of seeing them as a “power couple”, I just feel that a romantic relationship between them is overrated
Because of Their Arguments- Wendy Cordoroy and Robbie (Gravity Falls)
I didn’t like Robbie at all throughout the series, and seeing what his relationship with Wendy was while they were briefly dating didn’t make me like him any bit.
Honestly, it was very one sided. Robbie only wanted to date Wendy because he liked how she looked, but showed little to no interest in anything else tied to her. He was ignorant of what else she was doing or how she felt about stuff, and was honestly a little controlling. It honestly relieved me that Wendy not only broke up with him, but stood her ground when she saw what a jerk he was to Dipper.
Because it Brings Out Their Worst Qualities- Alador and Odalia Blight (The Owl House)
You know, sometimes I wonder just how and why Alador ended up with Odalia in the first place. Yes, if it weren’t for them, then we wouldn’t have Amity, and Luz wouldn’t have her awesome girlfriend. But still, that doesn’t excuse how one-sided and toxic their marriage is.
Odalia is clearly a selfish, controlling person. She is clearly like this towards her kids, but when we finally meet Amity’s parents in person, we can see that she has this similar approach to her own husband too! Alador does truly love his kids and wants to be there for him, but Odalia makes him work constantly just so she can be the one enjoying a rich, luxurious life. Hell, she was even willing to aid Belos in his Draining Spell to kill all other witches, if it means that she benefits for it.
Honestly, I’m hoping that by the end of the series, Alador leaves Odalia.
Because They Can't Forgive Each Other- Harley Quinn and Joker (Harley Quinn)
This show is literally about Harley breaking up with Joker, finding her own independence, and moving on from an abusive relationship. And while she was clearly still trying to move on and show how strong she can be without Joker, he was STILL trying to put her in a toxic connection with him. As I’ve continued watching the series and seeing what new hijinks Harley gets into, whether or not they involve Joker, it’s better that she doesn’t get back together with him.
She clearly knows that he hurt her a lot and in this series, she knows better and is doing what she can to move forward with her life.
Because I DON'T- Ingo and Melli (Pokémon Legends Arceus)
Ho boy… I think I’m the only person who is a fan of the game who not only doesn’t like Melli, but also doesn’t like shipping him with Ingo…
But yeah. I cannot see myself liking this pairing. I see no appeal to it. I already don’t like Melli because of how incredibly selfish he is and doesn’t admit when he has messed up or has hurt others, so pairing him with Ingo doesn’t seem like something I can like. Unlike Melli, Ingo, despite his amnesia and being a stranger in Hisui because of his amnesia, is still a kind, gentle soul who respects both other humans and Pokémon, and he isn’t a sore loser if he loses to the player in a battle.
Yeah. Polar opposites, and me disliking Melli is why I cannot see myself shipping this pairing. And don’t hate me, but I don’t get why others ship it…
