Changes-Seriously? Onikuro asked. Like, right now?
Marik nodded, his mind set up. Onikuro shrugged and placed himself at one end of the clearing, Marik going to the other. Marik's rings were glowing yellow as he anticipated his first real battle with his brother. Shadow acted as the referee, unsure if this battle was such a good idea. "Who am I kidding, I need to trust Marik more" the Umbreon father told himself.
-You two ready? Shadow asked.
-Yup, Onikuro answered.
Marik simply nodded, his full concentration on his brother's movements. He didn't even hear Shadow say "Go!". All he saw was his brother running towards his, purple energy covering his right front paw. At the last second, Marik jumped on his left, avoiding the hit, and dashed under his brother. He tensed his muscles and, before Onikuro could understand what was happening, lifted him on his shoulders.
-W-what're you doing? Onikuro let out.
Pushing his strength further, Marik jumped with his brother still on his back. He spun, making so he was on top of the shiny Umbreon, and began slapping him with his tail by rolling on himself. Onikuro was too concentrated on blocking his brother's attacks to realize the ground was getting closer to him.
-Look out! Shadow yelled as he realized Marik and Onikuro wouldn't be able to stop their fall.
"I'm... not feeling any... better..." Marik thought before they both landed in the grass. Onikuro was under Marik, unable to move his paws. Marik had his front right paw lifted above his head, eerie energy surrounding it.
-Y-you won... Onikuro blurted, a startled look in his eyes. Please Marik... Get off me...
The shiny Umbreon's brother stared at him, sadness in his eyes. Onikuro didn't understand when Marik didn't move and his rings turned blue.
-I thought maybe I'd feel better if I knew I was able to defeat you... Marik confessed. I thought maybe I'd feel better if I knew dad loved me like he loved you...
-Marik, what're you saying? Oni asked.
-It's like I've been soiled by this feeling... Oni, I've been envying your relationship with dad for so long... I'm so sorry...
Marik closed his eyes, tears forming at their base. He sat, freeing Onikuro from his grip. The shiny Umbreon watched as his brother brought his paw in front of him to stare at it.
-Pff, and to say I can use this now... Marik sighed as he let go of the energy surrounding his paw.
-Marik, are you alright? Onikuro asked as he got back up, his limbs a little sore.
-I've been hiding this for a long time... I'm sorry I lied to you Onikuro... You too dad... Marik added as he saw his father getting closer. I can't... stand living in the shadows anymore...
Shadow smiled as Onikuro hugged his brother who couldn't stop the streams of tears coming down his face. The Umbreon father walked closer and joined the embrace.
-I thought I once told you not to keep everything bottled up inside, Marik... Shadow said.
-I'm s-sorry dad... Marik sobbed. I'm so p-pathe...
-Stop saying that! Onikuro interrupted. Stop putting yourself down like that!
-Oni's right Marik, Shadow added. You're kind, strong, smart...
Marik wasn't even listening to his father. He was thinking about his behavior, his actions and his previous thoughts. Before Shadow was done talking, Marik finally decided to do what was right for him. He asked both Umbreons to get back a little as he wiped his tears. He stared at his father, then at his brother. Both could see new determination in his eyes, now empty of sorrow.
-Dad, Oni, I'm tired to be depressed like that, Marik said. I want to become stronger and to be able to fight.
-Are you sure? Shadow asked. You know you hate fighting.
-When I battled Oni, I realized that I don't need to fight for the fun of it. I fought Oni to prove to myself that I wasn't a weakling.
-Well, if you can keep up with me, I can train you, Shadow said with a smile.
-And I can help you with that shadow energy you used earlier! Onikuro joyfully added.
-Thanks guys, you're the best! Marik said as he hugged both Umbreons.
-Well, do you guys want a little break, something to eat or anything? Storm asked as she came out. Raven, Pyro and I prepared some snacks and...
-Yay! Onikuro, Marik, Snowy, Koneka, Zeke, Axel, Kira, Celest and Hope yelled as they ran past the couple.
-As eager as always, Aqua chuckled as she saw all eight children enter the dining room and take place around one of the ends of the long table.
On plates near Aqua were different snacks; delicious rice balls, small balls of dough covered with sweet sauce, vegetables and many others. The children all started picking food from the plates and ate the delicious snacks Storm, Pyro and Raven had prepared.
-Well aren't you kids hungry! Aqua laughed as she took a rice ball and started eating it.
-Thanks mom! Axel said, his muzzle covered with the sweet sauce.
-Those are really good Miss Aqua! Hope added.
-I'll be sure to tell the cooks, the Vaporeon mother chuckled.
-Alright! Sweet goods! Blaze let out as she came in the dining room and sat down next to Zeke. Those are one of my favorites!
-We all know you love my mom's cooking Blaze, Blizzard laughed as she followed the Ninetales.
-Your mom must be the best cook in the world!
-Thank you very much sweetie, I'm glad you like it, Storm said as she joined the Pokémons around the table.
-Hi mom! Hope said with her mouth full of rice when she saw her mother enter the room.
-Hi sweetie, Duo replied as she kissed her daughter's forehead. Is everyone being nice to you?
-Yes! Marik and Koneka are super nice with me!
-Well of course we are, the young Umbreon said. You're our guest after all.
-Can we be friends?
-Of course! Koneka said as she pat the young bipolar Pokémon's head.
Duo smiled as he daughter laughed with her seven new friends. She would have hoped her other daughter, Shiroko, and her mate, Byrne, could have been here, but the circumstances of her departure and the strange dreams Hope had of her past had dissuaded her to bring them.
-Are you alright Duo? a voice asked, tearing the Umbrespeon from her thoughts.
-I'm fine, she answered, realizing it was Dawn who had spoke. I'm sorry to worry you.
Dawn nodded. Her eyes were still puffy, but the Espeon was able to give a faint smile to Duo.
-I'll make sure your family is prepared to defeat Nocturn, Duo said. It might take a while, but from that little spar I had with your mate, brother and nephews, I'm sure you'll all be ready in no time.
-Thank you for all your doing for us, Dawn muttered. I don't know how we can repay you...
-Save Mikazuki and make sure she's okay. That's all I'm asking for.
-By the way Duo, could you tell us a little more about your species' abilities? Shadow asked. I've always been curious and you're the first adult Umbrespeon we meet except for Nocturn, who wouldn't tell me a single thing.
-Of course Shadow. There are mainly three branches of powers an Umbrespeon can learn and use: shadow energy, psychic energy and Aura, Duo said as she made a triangle on the table with lines made of Aura. Usually, a strong Umbrespeon will control well enough at least two of those branches. Zeke, what are your strengths?
-I-I control well A-Aura and shadow energy, Miss Duo, the shiny Umbrespeon stammered. I've got some basics in telepathic powers too.
-That's really good Zeke. You see, even I am only good in two of these "branches". I'm good with psychic and Aura. What about Mika? I know she's young, but she might...
-She's really good with Aura, psychic and shadow! Onikuro blurted.
-Onikuro! Be more polite! Neka reproached.
-Sorry mom...
-Really? A young girl being this strong? Duo asked, surprised.
Bolt, Shadow and Scar started telling Duo about Mikazuki's evolution and the depression that occurred after. The Umbreon then explained how he had proposed the Umbrespeon to start training her to control her powers, to what she had immediately accepted. After that, Scar continued with relating how, during a month, he had trained Mika to use Aura while Shadow had trained her to use psychic energy.
-We also trained Mika to use dark energy! Onikuro added when Scar was finished.
-She was real good with it, Marik completed.
-Umbrespeons who control all three branches are considered very strong, Duo said. I don't know anyone who actually controls very well all three.
-I hope Nocturn isn't one of them, Shadow said. The weaker he is, the easier it'll be.
-Did this answer your questions Shadow?
-Yes, thank you very much.
-So dad, are we going back to training? Snowy asked his father, who was a little farther on the table.
-Sure Snowy, but before that your mother and I wanted to give you a little something, Lightning said as Blizzard came closer, a small box on a block of ice floating next to her.
-What is it? the shiny Eevee asked.
-It's a little something I'm sure you'll like, Blizzard simply said, a smile on her lips.
Unable to resist the box' appeal, Snowy opened it. Inside was a small necklace with a round, light blue pendant. Looking closer, Snowy realized the pendant was made of some kind of ice. With Lightning's help, the Eevee put it around his neck. Surprisingly enough, the icy pendant didn't get lost in Snowy's fluffy mane.
-Thanks mom, dad, but what is it? the Eevee asked.
-It's an icy rock fragment, Blizzard revealed. I know how much you said you wanted to evolve in a Glaceon, so I thought I'd make a surprise for you.
-So... you mean I'll be able to evolve in a Glaceon like you mom?
When his parents nodded, Snowy jumped to his paws and hugged them both as tightly as he could. Unable to wait, Snowy went outside with his mother to practice his control over Articuno's ice powers. The children all followed the Glaceon and Eevee, eager to resume training.
-So Father, what did you find at the library? Inferno asked.
-I found some information on the powers the Chosen of the Sun has and a little more of the prophecy concerning you five, Kage said as he opened the borrowed book on the table.
-That's right! It's the first time all five Chosen are so close to each other! Inferno excitingly said. Does it say anything about it in your book?
-It says that on the day of the Dark Sun, four of the Chosen, along with the son of the fifth, will save the light of the tribe of twilight, the Houndoom father continued. The child of light and darkness, following this, will bring what was once hated and feared back into the world. Despite the obstacles, her powerful mind will prevail and she shall be able to make others see the light in her tribe.
-The beginning's pretty easy to understand, Shadow muttered. Dark Sun can only mean a solar eclipse is going to happen.
-What's this all about? Duo asked, confused. What prophecy?
-You see, our family's been entwined in a prophecy, the Umbreon explained. We have three Pokémons who were "chosen" by one of the legendary bird gods each to save the world or something like that.
-That's me, Blizzard who got out with her son and Emmi here, Spark said as he motioned towards his cousin.
-I'm also one of the Chosen, along with Inferno, Blaze added.
-So you each have powers coming directly from gods? That's ridiculous!
As Blaze focused, black circles appeared around her eyes. A small ball of bright light appeared in front of Duo, startling her. Inferno also focused, a small amount of flames starting to turn around Blaze's sphere.
-Incredible... Duo let out, marvelled at the sight. Gods do exist...
-We may have those powers, but they're really hard to use, Inferno said. We need a lot of practice, imagination and concentration to use them correctly.
-Okay, back to the prophecy, Shadow concluded. Anyone know what this "tribe of twilight" is about?
-I don't think there is any twilight Pokémon, Aqua said. Though it is a prophecy, so it's metaphorical of course.
-Twilight is the time of day when the sun sets... Bolt said. A sun set Pokémon? There aren't any.
-Maybe sun? Leaf added. So maybe a tribe of Espeons? It'd kinda fit.
-I doubt it, Shadow replied. They wouldn't have talked about twilight if it was an Espeon tribe. No, we're missing something...
-Actually, not only the sun sets during twilight, but the moon rises, Kiba said. The sun lowers and the moon rises...
-A tribe of Umbreons and Espeons? Inferno proposed.
-Of course not! Shadow exclaimed. It's an Umbrespeon tribe! No, more than a tribe, it's the whole species!
-That's very good thinking Shadow, but there aren't that many Umbrespeons left, Spark sighed.
-That's why it speaks of saving its light! The Umbrespeons are nearly extinct, so the Chosen are actually the ones who are going to save the Umbrespeon race!
-You keep on amazing me with your quick wits Shadow, Raven said. I'm proud of you.
-If we follow this logic, it says "The child of light and darkness, following this, will bring what was once hated and feared back into the world". What is the one thing nearly everyone fears?
-Umbrespeons! Pyro blurted, happy to have been able to follow his twin's trail of thoughts.
-Does this mean this child will bring them back into society? Celia asked. Is this the right thing to do? I mean sure it would be perfect if everyone could just accept this, but if this child does bring the Umbrespeons back, doesn't this mean a war or another slaughter's going to start?
-You forget the rest of the prophecy Celia, Dawn calmly said. It says that this young girl will be able to make others see Umbrespeons as something else than a killing machine.
-Dawn's right, Shadow added. And, from what I understand, I'm pretty sure this child...
-Is Duo, Hope... or Mikazuki... Dawn finished.
-I doubt it's us, since we live where we are accepted for what we are, Duo said. This leaves Mikazuki or another Umbrespeon girl we don't know about.
-All hope isn't lost... Dawn muttered.
-I told you we'd save her, and you know I never go back on my decisions, Bolt said as he hugged his wife.
-Kage, did you read anything about Ho-Oh? Blaze asked.
-I did read that your powers would increase during the day and decrease during the night, but nothing more really, the Houndoom answered.
-Hey, we lost enough time talking already, let's go train! Spark said, most of the other adults agreeing.
-I'll become stronger and bring Mika back, I promise, Bolt told Dawn before kissing her.
-Like this? Snowy asked as he created a small amount of mist using his powers.
-I doubt that'd be enough, but it's a good start, his mother complimented. But enough about Articuno's powers; can you defend yourself without them?
-Um, well, I... Snowy started, unsure. I can use Attract... And I can bite and claw...
-So you don't battle that much without using Articuno... the Glaceon sighed. You can't always depend on her hunny.
-But I can't use any ice type moves like I'd want! the Eevee protested.
-So you really want to evolve?
-Yes! That's why I want to become a Glaceon like you! To become stronger! Anyway, a Glaceon is a lot cooler than an Eevee.
-Always talking about how you look! Onikuro laughed as he came closer.
-There's your chance, Blizzard whispered to her son's ear. You need to practice as much as you can and showing you those powers kinda tired me...
-Mom, are you feeling okay?
-Yes, it's just the baby.
-Oni! Snowy said. Let's have a battle!
-But I was going to train with Duo when she comes out! the shiny Umbreon protested.
-What is it? Are you a chicken? he Eevee taunted.
-Who's the one who was running away from Blaze yesterday? Onikuro retorted.
-She was going to kill me!
-Guys, seriously? Marik sighed. Don't fight like that, you're no longer...
-Blaze? Kill you? She couldn't hurt you even if she tried! She's much too nice for that.
-Here we go again... Marik sighed as his brother and cousin jumped on each other and started biting and scratching the other.
-What was Onikuro talking about Blaze yesterday? the mother asked Marik.
-Well, you know how Snowy can be a little absent minded and clumsy? He froze Blaze in her bath yesterday and both began running in the clinic's corridors.
-Hey! Guys! Spark yelled as he ran towards the two fighting Pokémons. What the heck is happening?
-The usual, Marik shrugged. Snowy taunted Oni, Oni taunted back and they started fighting.
-Alright kids, save your energy for real training, Spark said as he separated the two cousins.
-He started it! Onikuro argued.
-Why don't you want to battle? I want to be stronger too! Snowy added as he tried jumping on the Umbreon again.
-Guys, how old are you? Marik sighed.
-We're not adults Marik! both blurted.
-Point taken.
Snowy sighed as Onikuro refused a battle for the third time. He was about to go take a look at what was about to happen with Duo training everyone when the ice pendant hanging from his neck starting giving off intense light.
-Guys... I'm feeling... cold... Snowy muttered, his legs shaking.

Ah siblings fighting... It's always fun to see those happen even if their for the stupidest of reasons. Aw why must you keep putting yourself down Marik? Come here little one no one's going to make fun of you. I guess it only a simple little sibling fight for Snowy to evolve eh?
