The Wolf and the Lamb

While Jerry and Shadow were crying in each other's shoulder, Spark felt some wiggling on his back.  The Jolteon twisted his head and noticed Marik had become agitated, his eyes visibly full of tears.
-O...  Oni...  he struggled to say.
Spark's eyes widened as he turned his head to look at Yami, who had taken Onikuro from his father's back.  The shiny Umbreon was grunting, his eyes open in a thin line.  Knowing very well what Marik wanted to ask of him, Spark quickly walked to Yami and Onikuro, Marik struggling to get off the Jolteon.
-Here, let me help, Spark smiled as he let the Umbreon down.
Still extremely weak from the time his body was lacking a soul, he difficultly crawled to his brother, sobs stuck in his throat.  His rings turning to a deep blue, Marik could only weep when he saw Onikuro slowly open his eyes a little more and notice him, his eyes widening.
-M...  Marik...  the shiny Umbreon groaned.  It's...  you...
Marik slowly lifted himself on his paws, his faint strength making them shake.  Marik stumbled to his brother and fell directly on him in a brotherly embrace.  His rings now turning yellow, he sniffled as he stared into Onikuro's eyes.
-I...  I'm so...  happy, Oni...  Marik cried.  So happy...  to see you...  again...
-I...  I was so scared...  Onikuro cried, hugging his brother back.  You idiot...  don't ever do that...
-ONI!!!  Koneka yelled as she joined her two brothers, hugging them tighter than she had ever before.  You morons!  Don't do that ever again!
-S...  sorry, Marik apologized.
The triplets lifted their gaze and saw their father, a shaky smile on his lips, tears of happiness freely flowing from his eyes.  He joined the hug, softly sobbing in his children's fur.
-D...  Dad...  Onikuro said.  S...  Sorry...
-Shut up, Onikuro, Koneka warned.  Apologize later.
The rest of the party joined the embrace, glad that Onikuro and Marik were back, safe and sound and no longer hearing Karan's yells of anguish.

-What...  What now...?  Spark asked.  We...  We should go back...
-I...  agree with Spark...  Jerry whimpered.  I...  I'm tired of...  this place...
-Bolt also needs to see a doctor, Shadow added, wiping the tears from his eyes.  We should retreat...  Going forward was a stupid idea...
-What about Nocturn?  Blaze growled.  I say we go beat him up before leaving!
-N...  No, Blaze...  Scar muttered, his consciousness slowly coming back.  We're too weak right now.  Everyone fought except for Jerry.  I think it's safe to say we all want to go back.
-Even I...  Bolt sighed.  I'm...  tired of all this...  I just want to go home and hug Dawn...
-I miss everyone...  Mikazuki sobbed.
-I think it'd be best if we all went home...  Shadow said, despite Blaze's protesting.  If Nocturn decides to attack us again, we'll take care of him.
Mikazuki quickly hugged her uncle, relieved everything would be over soon.  No more Karan, no more "Master Wrath", no more hate or intense training...  The normal life the mad Umbrespeon had stolen from her would soon be back.  She slowly followed her siblings, who were all moving back from where they came.  Knowing what would come, Mikazuki used her psychic powers to create some small plugs to stop the sound from entering her ears, hoping they would stop her from hearing Karan screaming.  She closed her eyes and went closer to Bolt, afraid she might lose the rest of the group.
-It's going to be okay, baby...  Bolt smiled as he kissed his daughter's forehead, knowing she probably had been traumatized by what had happened.  We'll be back home in no time...
-I hope you're right, Bolt...  Shadow sighed, knowing Mika couldn't hear them.  I hope with all my heart that you're right.
-When we're back...  Marik started.  I'm...  taking a nap...  I think I...  need some sleep...
-Hell yeah...  Onikuro added.  I'm going...  in hibernation...  for three months...
-Stop it, you two...  Koneka sighed.  You're acting as if nothing happened.

At this, Shadow felt his heart sink in his chest.  He knew he shouldn't feel guilty since they had all gone to save Mikazuki, but a part of him thought that maybe he should have communicated with Neka a bit more, just to let her know he was fine.  Then again, he wasn't certain if they would be able to go back unharmed without anyone trying to stop them.
-I...  I don't know...  the Umbreon replied, his voice tired.  I feel bad for leaving them in the dark...
-If we're going back, might as well tell them we're coming, Blaze suggested.  They'll be happy to know we saved Mika.
-I don't...  I don't want them to worry about my eye...  Bolt said.  Not for now...
-Bolt, they don't even know if you're alive!  The least of their worries is your eye, Inferno commented.
-How is your eye, anyway?  Yami asked.
-I don't really feel any pain from it, the Jolteon answered.  It's...  I don't know, it just feels...  strange...
The group of Pokémon entered the room where they had left Karan, prepared to hear his cries of suffering.  Mikazuki had her eyes closed, waiting for them to pass.
-Wh...  Shadow let out, dumbstruck.
-He should be there!  Blaze argued.  I had him!
-Is it possible that he...  disintegrated?  Bolt asked, agape.
-I...  Well, it's a possibility...
-He isn't...  Zeke muttered, his eyes glowing of a bright blue.  He's escaping!
-That son of a bitch isn't...  Bolt started, trying to run forward only to be stopped by his own paws' weakness, falling on the ground.
-Don't overexert yourself, Bolt, the Umbreon ordered.  If he's on the loose, then there's a......  That bastard, he must be running to the house!!
Shadow suddenly bolted, despite his tiredness.  Spark, Blaze, Yami, Inferno and Kione quickly followed him, afraid of the Tyranitar's motives.  Despite having wounded him previously, Blaze was now even more scared than before, knowing Karan would want to seek revenge.
-D...  Daddy...  I'm scared...  Mika cried, having heard everything when she felt Shadow start to run.  I don't...  want to go back...
-You won't, Mika.  He'll have to get rid of me before hurting you again, Bolt declared.
-Guys...  Zeke muttered.  It's a trap...
-What do you mean?  Axel asked.  He...
-From where we were going...  Someone's coming from there...  Scar muttered.  I'm too weak to...  identify him, though...
-Nocturn...  Bolt snarled.  I'm going to...
-We....  We gotta go...  help dad...  Onikuro said.
-He...  He's coming...  Jerry muttered, fear in his eyes.
-Onikuro's right.  We can't even fight off Nocturn as we are!  Snowy added.  We gotta go, now!
-I'll help you, Scar!  Kira said as she helped the shiny Lucario up.  We gotta get out of here!
Scar slowly got himself up, his paws shaking from the use of energy.  He slowly walked towards the tunnel Shadow had run into earlier, along with the other children.  Jerry had settled Onikuro on his back, eager to leave this infernal place, while Snowy gladly took Marik on his shoulders.
-Happy to see you look fine, the shiny Glaceon smiled to his cousin.
-Thanks, Snowy...  the Umbreon replied, his rings glowing of a white light.  Let's...  Let's get out of...  here....
Bolt, helped by Koneka and Zeke, followed Jerry and Snowy into the tunnel, his daughter close to him.  Despite fear filling her heart, Mikazuki turned around, looking back to where Nocturn was supposed to come from.  "What's going to happen?  Is he going to hurt me?  Hurt daddy?  I'm so scared...  I...  I don't want him to hurt my family...  I...  I'm the only one who...  who can stop him..." Mika thought.  Before Bolt could realize what she was doing, she scanned the entire area, feeling Nocturn approaching dangerously.  She bolted back to the room where Karan had been, startling her father.
-Mika!  the Jolteon yelled, too weak to run after her.
The Umbrespeon difficultly ignored her father's screaming, hurrying to where the Tyranitar had waited for them.  She was determined to never let Nocturn hurt her family ever again, even if he ended up hurting her badly.

When Mika entered the room again, a large pink wall appeared behind her, trapping her on this side.  She walked forward a little, determination replacing the fear she had felt earlier.  "You can do it, Mika...  He's not that strong...  You even trained with him!  You know how to beat him..."
-So...  looks like you came back, Envy...  a dark, eerie voice said.
-I...  the young Umbrespeon started, anxiety tightening her throat.
-Mika!  Bolt yelled through the wall.  Mika!!
-I'm...  I'm not Envy!  Mikazuki retorted.  I'm Mikazuki Volu!
-Ahh...  I hoped you'd be different...  Nocturn sighed, getting out of the darkness, the surrounding torches illuminating his face in a scary way.  I hoped you'd understand...  But I was wrong...
-Leave...  leave us alone...  Mikazuki muttered.
-I suppose I could still forgive you.  You could be very useful to me, Envy.
-I said leave us alone!  We're tired of all this!
-Mika...  Bolt let out, surprised at his daughter.  You...
-I see...  So that's how it's going to be...  Nocturn muttered.  I'll just have to kill you and the rest of your family then!

-Mika!  Axel let out when he got closer, loud enough for the two Umbrespeons to hear.
The Poochyena ran into the barrier, trying to break it.  He was recoiled back, rolling head over heels, stopping a little further.  Despite not breaking it, he did manage to get Nocturn's attention, making him stop yelling at Mikazuki.
-Don't interrupt!  the older Umbrespeon roared.
-What others did to you and your friends was wrong, Mikazuki said.  But getting revenge on them just for "settling the score" isn't right!
-How could you know?  You haven't endured what I have you little pest!  Nocturn growled as he pinned Mika to the wall with his psychic powers.
-Kyaa!  she cried out, gasping for air because of the strong impact.
-Should I show you what treatment the "Mayor" reserved for us?  I'm sure Karan would have loved to give you a little demonstration.
-N...  No...  Please, stop...  Mika begged.  I...  I'm scared...  I don't...  I don't want to die...
-MIKA!!!  Bolt yelled as he weakly pounded on the barrier, feeling useless.  YOU SON OF A BITCH, LET HER GO!!
Nocturn suddenly turned his head, focusing on something.  Mika was able to free herself from his grip, going farther and massaging her throat.   "He...  He almost killed me...  I...  Daddy, I...  I don't want to die...  I...  I want to live!"
-Who are you?  Nocturn asked, a faint silhouette appearing.
"That's...  That's...  me?!"  Marik realized as he looked closer.  "Wait...  this scene seems familiar...  My vision!  I had a vision of this moment months ago!"
-Nocturn...  Mika groaned, difficultly standing on her paws.  I...
-You're still up?!  Nocturn asked, the faint "Marik" disappearing.  Don't you understand?  You're going to die today anyway!
-I...  I'm going to beat you, Nocturn.  And then...  I will avenge your daughter!
"She...  seems so mature, now...  All...  All I can do is...  trust her..." Bolt realized.
-Mika!  Snowy yelled through the barrier, getting her attention.  Once this is all over, I'll give you a present!  So don't lose!
Mikazuki smiled at Snowy and nodded.  "I won't lose.  I can't lose."
-You...  Mikazuki...  You'll be first to die today!  Nocturn let out.
-I won't die!  the female bipolar Pokémon retorted.  I can't lose today!
-Poor girl...  Did you really think I came here unprepared?
-Huh...?
Nocturn smirked as he looked up at the cavern's ceiling.  A part of it seemed different somehow, as if it had been put there after.  The Umbrespeon shot an Aura Sphere up, the attack going through the rock and hitting grass over it, burning it down.
-H-how?  Mikazuki stammered.
-Now's the time, Nocturn laughed, light slowly invading the dark sanctuary.  Today's a special day, Mikazuki!  Special for you and me indeed!
Bolt looked up through the huge gap in the ceiling, noticing he could see the sky.  But, unlike what he had thought first, the sky wasn't blue.  It was darkening; darkening to a deep, night sky.

Spark, Blaze, Yami, Inferno and Kione ran blindly in the series of tunnels, following the glowing rings of their Umbreon companion.  The only one knowing where they were headed was Shadow, keeping his mind focused on his surroundings, but especially on Karan's energy, determined to stop him.  The Tyranitar had already made it outside, which surprised him.  How could someone this wounded be this quick?  "Unless...  He only pretended pain!  That bastard got us good!"  the Umbreon realized.
-Sh...  Shadow...  think it's...  a good i...  idea...?  Yami panted.
-Yami!  We can't let Karan escape!  Blaze argued.
-We can't...  fight exh... exhausted either...  Inferno denied.
-I'll take care of him myself then!
-Blaze...  You're not str...  strong enough...  Spark wheezed.  None of us are...
-I'll just have to...  the Ninetales started.
-Arguing won't stop him from reaching our house!  Shadow yelled, tired of the useless chatter.  Blaze is right!  If we don't hurry, who knows what he'll do?!
-Exactly!  Blaze replied, hurrying to Shadow's level.  Which way did he go?

Spark did as he was instructed, his eyes slowly coming back to normal.  He looked apologetically at the Ninetales, knowing by the look on her face that he had been taken by his own anger again.

Before he could continue, Blaze picked him up and settled him comfortably on her back.  She started running towards the exit again, Spark having to hug her neck to stay on her back.  He blushed, his face being this close to his friend's, feeling lucky she couldn't see him in this position.

-We're closer, I think, Blaze said after a while.
-I'm feeling better now, Blaze, Spark replied.  I can go back down.
-Nah, I'll keep you up here, Spark.  You rest up for as long as you can.
-I'm telling you, I'm.......  How can you even run like this?!  I've never known you had such stamina!
-I've always been a good runner, and it looks like I'm even better with Ho-Oh's powers!
-I can see the exit!  Wait...  Is it night time already?
-Night time?  Spark, we haven't been in the cave for half a day...
-Well it's dark!  Look for yourself!
Blaze looked out, surprised that Spark was right after all.  She blinked a few times, wondering if she was suffering from a hallucination.  It really did seem like night had settled early.  When they finally got outside, the Ninetales finally let her friend down and looked around while he stretched his paws, his energy back to him.  She looked up slightly before quickly lowering her eyes, noticing from the corner of them the ring of fire in the sky.
-Spark!  Don't look up!  the fox Pokémon warned.
-Why not?  Spark asked, trying to lift his eyes before Blaze stopped him.
-Don't you know?!  If you look at a solar eclipse, you'll go blind!
-Eclipse?!  Spark realized.  The prophecy!!
-I'm stopping Karan before anything else, Spark...  Blaze growled, knowing the Tyranitar was close.
Since Blaze was afraid she might miss him with the eclipse's darkness, she created half a dozen of spheres of light and spread them far from each other, lighting the area enough for her to see clearly.  Sure enough, she spotted a dark silhouette quickly running away.
-You're not escaping!  Blaze roared as she ran after him, Spark quickly following her.
A dark, sinister laughter echoed through the forest, freezing the two Chosen in their track.  The temperature seemed to drop simply by the evil presence.
-Who said anything about getting away?  a voice whispered in their ears.

-After you, I'll bring death and chaos to the Metropolis I so despise!  And they won't be last!  I'll kill everything that stands in the way of my revenge!!  No one will keep me from my goal!

-Mika!  Axel let out when he got closer, loud enough for the two Umbrespeons to hear.
The Poochyena ran into the barrier, trying to break it.  He was recoiled back, rolling head over heels, stopping a little further.  Despite not breaking it, he did manage to get Nocturn's attention, making him stop yelling at Mikazuki.
-Don't interrupt!  the older Umbrespeon roared.
-What others did to you and your friends was wrong, Mikazuki said.  But getting revenge on them just for "settling the score" isn't right!
-How could you know?  You haven't endured what I have you little pest!  Nocturn growled as he pinned Mika to the wall with his psychic powers.
-Kyaa!  she cried out, gasping for air because of the strong impact.
-Should I show you what treatment the "Mayor" reserved for us?  I'm sure Karan would have loved to give you a little demonstration.
-N...  No...  Please, stop...  Mika begged.  I...  I'm scared...  I don't...  I don't want to die...
-MIKA!!!  Bolt yelled as he weakly pounded on the barrier, feeling useless.  YOU SON OF A BITCH, LET HER GO!!
Nocturn suddenly turned his head, focusing on something.  Mika was able to free herself from his grip, going farther and massaging her throat.   "He...  He almost killed me...  I...  Daddy, I...  I don't want to die...  I...  I want to live!"
-Who are you?  Nocturn asked, a faint silhouette appearing.
"That's...  That's...  me?!"  Marik realized as he looked closer.  "Wait...  this scene seems familiar...  My vision!  I had a vision of this moment months ago!"
-Nocturn...  Mika groaned, difficultly standing on her paws.  I...
-You're still up?!  Nocturn asked, the faint "Marik" disappearing.  Don't you understand?  You're going to die today anyway!
-I...  I'm going to beat you, Nocturn.  And then...  I will avenge your daughter!
"She...  seems so mature, now...  All...  All I can do is...  trust her..." Bolt realized.
-Mika!  Snowy yelled through the barrier, getting her attention.  Once this is all over, I'll give you a present!  So don't lose!
Mikazuki smiled at Snowy and nodded.  "I won't lose.  I can't lose."
-You...  Mikazuki...  You'll be first to die today!  Nocturn let out.
-I won't die!  the female bipolar Pokémon retorted.  I can't lose today!
-Poor girl...  Did you really think I came here unprepared?
-Huh...?
Nocturn smirked as he looked up at the cavern's ceiling.  A part of it seemed different somehow, as if it had been put there after.  The Umbrespeon shot an Aura Sphere up, the attack going through the rock and hitting grass over it, burning it down.
-H-how?  Mikazuki stammered.
-Now's the time, Nocturn laughed, light slowly invading the dark sanctuary.  Today's a special day, Mikazuki!  Special for you and me indeed!
Bolt looked up through the huge gap in the ceiling, noticing he could see the sky.  But, unlike what he had thought first, the sky wasn't blue.  It was darkening; darkening to a deep, night sky.

Spark, Blaze, Yami, Inferno and Kione ran blindly in the series of tunnels, following the glowing rings of their Umbreon companion.  The only one knowing where they were headed was Shadow, keeping his mind focused on his surroundings, but especially on Karan's energy, determined to stop him.  The Tyranitar had already made it outside, which surprised him.  How could someone this wounded be this quick?  "Unless...  He only pretended pain!  That bastard got us good!"  the Umbreon realized.
-Sh...  Shadow...  think it's...  a good i...  idea...?  Yami panted.
-Yami!  We can't let Karan escape!  Blaze argued.
-We can't...  fight exh... exhausted either...  Inferno denied.
-I'll take care of him myself then!
-Blaze...  You're not str...  strong enough...  Spark wheezed.  None of us are...
-I'll just have to...  the Ninetales started.
-Arguing won't stop him from reaching our house!  Shadow yelled, tired of the useless chatter.  Blaze is right!  If we don't hurry, who knows what he'll do?!
-Exactly!  Blaze replied, hurrying to Shadow's level.  Which way did he go?
-Straight up.  I...  My paws are k...  killing me...  the Umbreon realized.
-S...  Stay there then.  I'll go alone.
-Blaze...?!  Spark argued.  You're going...  alone?  Are you insane?!
-Everyone's tired, Spark...  All I did was hiding during Pride's battle...  I'm not hiding anymore.  I'll take care of that damned Tyranitar!
-Blaze...  I'm coming with you.  I...  I couldn't stand watching you get killed again...
-Spark, you're worn out...  Let me handle...
-I said I'm coming!  the Jolteon retorted, his eyes growing dark.
-O-Okay...  Just...  Take a deep breath...
Spark did as he was instructed, his eyes slowly coming back to normal.  He looked apologetically at the Ninetales, knowing by the look on her face that he had been taken by his own anger again.
-S...  he started.
Before he could continue, Blaze picked him up and settled him comfortably on her back.  She started running towards the exit again, Spark having to hug her neck to stay on her back.  He blushed, his face being this close to his friend's, feeling lucky she couldn't see him in this position.

-We're closer, I think, Blaze said after a while.
-I'm feeling better now, Blaze, Spark replied.  I can go back down.
-Nah, I'll keep you up here, Spark.  You rest up for as long as you can.
-I'm telling you, I'm.......  How can you even run like this?!  I've never known you had such stamina!
-I've always been a good runner, and it looks like I'm even better with Ho-Oh's powers!
-I can see the exit!  Wait...  Is it night time already?
-Night time?  Spark, we haven't been in the cave for half a day...
-Well it's dark!  Look for yourself!
Blaze looked out, surprised that Spark was right after all.  She blinked a few times, wondering if she was suffering from a hallucination.  It really did seem like night had settled early.  When they finally got outside, the Ninetales finally let her friend down and looked around while he stretched his paws, his energy back to him.  She looked up slightly before quickly lowering her eyes, noticing from the corner of them the ring of fire in the sky.
-Spark!  Don't look up!  the fox Pokémon warned.
-Why not?  Spark asked, trying to lift his eyes before Blaze stopped him.
-Don't you know?!  If you look at a solar eclipse, you'll go blind!
-Eclipse?!  Spark realized.  The prophecy!!
-I'm stopping Karan before anything else, Spark...  Blaze growled, knowing the Tyranitar was close.
Since Blaze was afraid she might miss him with the eclipse's darkness, she created half a dozen of spheres of light and spread them far from each other, lighting the area enough for her to see clearly.  Sure enough, she spotted a dark silhouette quickly running away.
-You're not escaping!  Blaze roared as she ran after him, Spark quickly following her.
A dark, sinister laughter echoed through the forest, freezing the two Chosen in their track.  The temperature seemed to drop simply by the evil presence.
-Who said anything about getting away?  a voice whispered in their ears.
