Description
This is part of a book I am designing for my 2D class. The book is on nature native to New Zealand. This is a Kauri Snail which is an awesome creature! Check it out by clicking the link.This was made in Illustrator and I used 2 resource images.
All text is information I found out about the snail and descriptive words here and there.
I created a compound path of all the text then made a clipping mask using the live traced images.
To shape the text, I either used type on a path or put an envelope distort on straight text using a mesh then manipulated points to distort the text.

the bottom part (not the shell) looks a bit uhh.. squary? when nearer to the shell lol and it seems like it's being sucked into the shell

ummm... Iv got 7 spreads with a couple of animals on each spread... BUT... I wont do this method on every image, I want to use the two textorizer methods for some. It doesnt work on my laptop for some reason tho, so at some point Ill have to go into school to do them. So in answer to your question, Id say... maybe 4 or 5 more.

The text looks really great!
The only thing I can fault is the quality of the colour blending. I understand that Illustrator doesn't do images very well, but it'd be nice to have to colour/background images of a better quality.

Well I was trying to get away from the realistic image coming thru and wanted a smooth gradient of colour, If I have time ill preproduce the image in vector and it will be all smooth!

It doesnt offend me too much with this. I would rather a smooth gradient tho... I definitely dont want a real image coming through tho... it didnt look good.

Wow---I don't know anything about Illustrator but I bet you get the highest grade in your 2D class. This is amazing looking, plus it looks like a lot of work went into it.
