Description This is the second part of my RPL (recognition of prior learning) challenge test to prove I could use studio lighting to be able to go straight into 2nd year of a Bachelor of Design Degree.
This was one of 3 photos required - a still life using 3 or more light sources. (I will only submit one of the 3 different fruits shot)
No image manipulation done here, It was taken on shiny black plastic giving the vivid reflection.

P.S. Its actually a mandarin or tangelo

Hi Lockie, this was at another photographers studio.
But my suggestion is to look up a plastic shelving, rack construction place and ask for some offcuts.
Most big cities will have this kind of place and they will either charge you for a piece or give you an off cut.
Good luck with finding something like that!

love the 3 pics you've done. i'm in the process of building a lightbox so fingers crossed i might be able to produce very high quality images like this soon. quick question. you said 3 light sources. are these actual lights or a combo or a light and reflectors?

I knew someone would ask me about the lighting... I used a light to get the highlight behind the fruit on the background, the key light is almost a side light to the right and I used a fill light coming in diagonally from the left, not too far from where I took the photo. I also used a reflector opposite the key light to get some detail under the fruit (bounced it up).
Hope that helps!
