Description I found a book yesterday on the films of Errol Flynn, and I couldn't help myself, I had to have it. My dad was a great fan of his, Errol was his hero. So I figured last night I should do something special for my dad and drew this up, I'm sure that if he was here today he'd be overjoyed.

It's the mustache that does it.
Those Hollywood people in the '30s sure could wear mustaches.

He did indeed, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have developed such good taste in music and actors

We have the film on DVD, I was actually watching a doc on him on tv last night, very good stuff

He was a very talented actor who had a pretty bumpy life.
Such potencial...

You did an excellent job on this. That's neat that he was your dad's hero when your dad was a kid.

Thanks!
I think it's neat too, he was one of those guys that really appreciated those films, it kinda leaked into me too which I know he'd be happy about. That and silent films like The Cabinet of Doctor Calagari

I don't know if I've seen that film, but I have seen a lot of other old films even if I haven't seen that one. Older film have a little something that these new action Hollywood films just don't have anymore.

Marker-Mistress In reply to MistressKurumi [2007-08-21 06:34:54 +0000 UTC]

That's for sure, I thought I'd kill someone if I had to see one more car crash in a movie getting praised for it's genius *shudders*
Plus actors back then knew their craft, they weren't getting famous for haveing parents with tons of cash and making gimmicks, playing with their fans guh!

MistressKurumi In reply to Marker-Mistress [2007-08-21 18:51:11 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, nowadays it seems anyone can be an actor and that makes film look pathetic.

Like that kid in Transformers that everybody is saying is such great actor, I couldn't see it for the life of me! To me, he was just another dumb teen star that people are so brain dead they couldn't tell the difference between good acting and gimmicks, I felt like Hollywood was shoving his so called "talent" down my throat

Ahh forgive my ranting!

MistressKurumi In reply to Marker-Mistress [2007-08-21 19:52:12 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I didn't think he was that bad.

But I do see what you mean. He's far from the best actor out there. You know, he got on the cover of Vogue? I read part of the article about him in it and he's like talking about how great he is, because some girl was shocked that he got the part. It was kind of annoying to read. I remember I just stopped after a while.

There's a lot of bad actors out there. My sister gets really annoyed with Daniel Radcliffe. She doesn't think he can act. Sometimes I wonder.

Marker-Mistress In reply to MistressKurumi [2007-08-21 19:55:58 +0000 UTC]

There are a lot of people that can't act that still get parts, and the same goes for horrible directors that keep getting movies green lit!

I commend you for going as far as you did in that article, one glance from me and I would have brushed it aside lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MistressKurumi In reply to Marker-Mistress [2007-08-22 20:31:57 +0000 UTC]

haha. Yeah, I really didn't last that long with the article. Maybe around 20 seconds, tops.

There are a lot of horrible directors out there, unfortunately. I hope I can change that a little one day. I'd like to be a film director someday. I plan on majoring in it.

Marker-Mistress In reply to rhannah [2007-08-28 16:07:46 +0000 UTC]

Naww, I can prove that I'm even more so. The lenses in my glasses are pretty thick and yet I still have to have my head inches from a piece of paper to draw

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

rhannah In reply to Marker-Mistress [2007-08-28 18:16:49 +0000 UTC]

That reminds me, when I used to draw, people would catch me making the expressions of the people in my pictures while I was working on their faces, or just matching the overall mood of the pic. Leanne does that sometimes... gets a really serious expression going on... like she's focusing heat vision.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Marker-Mistress In reply to rhannah [2007-08-28 18:35:45 +0000 UTC]

You know, I do the same thing! And that's why I try not to draw in crowds lol Especially if I'm drawing someone who's pissed! You and Leanne do it too? Heat vision, I wouldn't want to be on the other end of that! But it's understandable, you're right, that's how you get the overall mood of the pic you're working on.

(btw, I still love the Sapphire and Steel pic you did that Leanne showed me )
