figured i'd post up this design i did for Thunderclash so people could see his alt mode.unlike the original toy, all of his alt mode is part of the robot mode.
yeah, he's a big bot

Man, amazing as always. Now, seeing as how I'm going through your gallery backwards, you may have answered this already, but when you sit down to redesign an existing character, what's your process?

Usually I start with the alt mode and head, then I work out the body from the alt mode. I loosely think of the transformation as well, but sometimes I forget to put that to paper and then have a hard time remembering what I came up with. Most of the time it still works out

God, I hope we get a toy of that. I have the original Thunderclas and I have always wanted to see him revisited as a new version. Great design.

I really enjoy these designs for the truck Transformers that incorporate their trailers into the robot modes. I'd love toys for Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus that make use of such ideas, and this design for Thunderclash has added the character to my short list. He's bulky and intimidating without being kibble-y, and mounted guns are an element I always like.

He was a figure so big that when they brought him to the US for the Machine Wars line, they renamed him Β "Optimus Prime." Nuff said.
