US Navy Virginia Class submarine USS John Warner. This was piece commissioned for the Commander of the boat. It was present to Commander Burt Canfield on August 15, 2018 during the change of command ceremony.Related content

Most wouldn't notice that said hatch on the front belongs to a Trident II missile tube. Nice job.

The hatch is actually from a Virginia Class boat. They use one large hatch to cover multiple missiles instead of individual hatches like the earlier boats.

Oops my bad, not the same thing. I'm man enough to admit it. Turns out it was done to reduce the cost of the boats yet improve them at the same time.

I appreciate submarines and submarine warfare (which is freaking terrifying) a little more now that I've read The Hunt for Red October. And I learned about the Virginia class submarines from seeing this, so thanks for that. The 688 class is SOOO last century.
