Very niiice! I can't believe you used a macro lens for this haha.
The 7D performs pretty well in low light! No noise. Looks awesome.

Cheers, the 100mm is also a great telephoto, basically 2 lenses for the price of one.
It will always perform well at ISO 100, start pushing it above ISO 800 and you will see it

Would you recommend a versatile macro or a 35mm prime F/1.8 lens instead?

Depends on what you want to use it for. If you want to do some macro work then a versatile macro lens, but if you want a human eye view than the 35mm (that's assuming you have a crop camera) otherwise a 50mm if you have full frame.
