Description This is a sculpture of "Serafina" A character from a movie called 'The Golden Compass' coming out this December. One of 3 sculptures I did for 'Master Replicas' that is producing the collectable line. Coincidentally design drawing was a very similar pose the the 'Ramayan' sculpture I did awhile back.

It shocks me that it is free standing.
The weight doesn't make it fall?

This really fantastic! You sir are a god among men! Really an inspiration. If you don't mind me asking... How did do the fabric? Did you use any wire mesh or just the usual armature like the rest of the body? Any tips on how to approach hair sculpting would be very much appreciated

MarkNewman In reply to animedexgoof [2008-05-09 22:08:11 +0000 UTC]

I was contracted to sculpt this and 2 other characters from the movie by 'Master Replicas'
as part of a line of sculptures they produce and sell. I did not desing the character. I was given
movie production photos as reference. The other 2 characters I did were Mrs. Colter (Nichole Kidman)
and Lord Asrieil (Daniel Craig). Here is the link for more info.

Amazing work!
I like a lot the way statues are suspended by dress or hair, seems like they float and gives a great impresion of movements.... beautiful!!!!

I had to quickly Google "Master Replicas" and take a look at the final.

May I say, the piece as you have it here is a work of art. It's fabulous.
Colored, as they sell it... well, it's nice and collectors will enjoy it, but it doesn't carry the power of the original.

Is there any way to get a porcelain version? Oh please, oh please??
