I disagree! I think you went with the better choice! That reminds me though, I had thought of rendering a bunch of feathered wing poses! To go with my recent batches of fairy wings!
Neaten up your gallery! I'm sending a newcomer, complaining of the lack of talent at dA, over! How do I find quality artists...? You know.

Over 40 layers for the first one. The others are copies. Shall I upload the original fractal so you can see it? Just the one, morphed over and over.

Finally! I moved you! The butterfly wings were interesting, yes. However... Black bird wings! Hint of blue highlights. Individual feathers. 30 layers of fractal, for the first wing. Something I'd use.
The PNG version has a transparent background. I figured the blue wouldn't show up as bad as a white halo, and still erasable. PNG - Scraps section.
