Description This is a revisit, to Dalcairney Falls, except it had less water running through it than usual. This enabled me to jump to a rocky outcrop (seen here to the right of this image: [link] ) and get the angle for this shot.
In the background we see the main Falls, which is probably around a 30-40ft waterfall. It looked particularly nice, as it had less water running down it than usual. The water gathers in a massive pool (almost a lagoon surrounded by high rockey walls) and then flows down towards this area where where it cascades downwards. You would really need to see it for yourself to appreciate how wonderful this place is. I'll never tire of shooting here.
I really like this shot, and feel it is one of my best to date.

Canon EOS 350d on tripod
2 Sec via RS60-E3 Cable release
f22
ISO 100
Canon 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 Kit lens shot at 18mm.
Curves and contrast in Canon Professional Photographer.
Borders in PSP 9.

I'd appreciate some advanced critique on this please. Full view recommended.

Edit: Green border has been made thinner. Just having black or white didn't work nicely.

Great shot, picked up your site off of Shutterbugs. Excellent work, I'll be watching you for sure. Although I myself stick with black/white borders, this border seems to fit perfectly, couldn't ask for anything closer. The lighting was great in this shot, must of been hard to find enough.

thanks for the comment, glad you decided to watch me as well. It is greatly appreciated.
This is border v2, as the first one was rubbish and had too thick a green border, so I reduced it and it looks ok now

Shutterbugs is turning into a nice little busy forum!

Beautiful, just absolutely beautiful (will you fly me there? ). I must agree with others in the long exposure was an excellent choice; the water looks awesome. The colors are really nice, too. Very nice green in the trees and the moss.

I think the thick green inner border is a bit tacky though

Fantastic composition - the little waterfall at the back balances the large mass of water at the front perfectly.

I cant fault this technically man, you've done a great job, the streaming water looks beautiful the composition is great also. the only thing im not to keen on is the border, personally i find less is more. i think plain black or white looks great with maybe a 1px separating. Anyhow, thats my 2 cents.

Looks good, and well, when I capture this kind of thing, I try to cut down the amount of visible sky, as the expose of it tends to get blasted out a bit, with the longer exposures...

MarkShannon In reply to darthmarlan [2005-10-03 20:27:29 +0000 UTC]

yeah, it's just the way the exposure goes I suppose

Pretty pic, but for some reason I got fed up with LX and waterfalls It's like with other people and sunsets I suppose Anyway there's interesting 'star splash' at the bottom - pretty.
