I have been away for the last week.
Took a drive to Mammoth for some quiet time.
Lots of plans, planning, packing....driving.
Arrived.
The city, shrouded in smoke from a fire on the opposite side of the mountain.
Made us very ill.
Packed up, drove home the next day.
It happens.

Thank you Richard....I have this week off as well and today I took my grandson fishing and he caught his first fish out of the bay.
A corbina...."catch and release". Once he caught it, he didn't want anything to do with it.
My wife, our daughter and a few other young people went kayaking while we were fishing. When they caught up to us, he caught the fish, so his mom was there to see it unfold. (She made a photo of him and the fish). I tried to get him to hold the line with the fish for the photo, but he kept cringing because it was too "wiggly and slimy". I'm still chuckling over that.

We've been having extreme heat here, upper 90s. We took the grandsons to the kid fountains at one of the city parks one day and to the beach the next. I had a good swim myself, it was high tide. The buoys marking off the boat channel are further away then they look! But when the tide is out you can walk to them.
Tomorrow the whole clan is taking the train down to D.C. to visit my older son and his wife. Six adults and a four year old and a seven year old, should be about right.
