Silence in the endless dark, nothing but stars to be observed, no inkling of enemy incursion or corruption: Thus were the reports from large swaths of the frontline. The souls stationed at such silent posts had to be content with waiting, staring into the abyss.
What should have been an easy post weighed heavily on some. There were more than a few voidsmen and soldiers, who'd have much rather found themselves in one of the hot regions, in the midst of a fight, instead of languishing in the oppressive darkness of deep interstellar space. Many of those most anxious for the fight were newly raised crews and regiments, who had seen no action before. Others were veterans, who had friends or family on the frontline, eager to join them, help them, or simply learn what had become of them. But the creed of imperial vigilance did not allow for such luxuries as to choose one's role in this war.
