Description HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "It's 'May the Forth be with You'---why've you not drawn a Star Wars character?"

Because I don't know (or care) anything about Star Wars?

Granted, I have a Darth Vader pencil I'll (hopefully) use before I die. Actually, just to be a jerk, I started to draw with it the white Rabbit from the 'Wonderland' episode of 'Star Trek: the Animated Series' ...but didn't want to be cancelled ...not that there's anything to cancel, mind you, but I like to pretend. ^^

Anyway, I drew Howler from 'Pound Puppies' today ...I've drawn Howler before, but never to satisfaction ...and I still haven't, but here he is again. :3

HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "This character isn't a Pound Puppy"

Dude, go back in time a bit---Howler isn't from the 2010 series, he's from the original 1980's vision (I'm old, remember?).

Anyway,

Howler is from Hanna-Barbera's 'Pound Puppies' cartoon (more on this later).

Howler bears (what I'm gonna guess is) an incidental resemblance to Larry Fine of 'The Three Stooges' (I can't unsee it).
Despite this, Howler isn't a 'funny' character ...granted he has an awkward speech impediment that causes him to stammer and confuse syllables (he can break out of this by howling) ...which I think the viewer is supposed to find funny (I dunno).
Instead, Howler is better described as a junk collector and gadgeteer. Howler's hat has a mechanical hand inside ...which I had no room to draw here---ACO is a very restrictive format.

HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "I drew caricatures of the entire cast of 'Avengers: Infinity War' on one ACO ...with a jumbo Sharpie marker"

Oh? Let's see it! D:

HYPOTHETICALWATCHER: "I deleted it; didn't look good--too much empty space left over"

Well, good for you---I'm not so talented.

Anyway...

I drew Howler with my Zephyr, and delineated him with this 'Plast-O-Cap' pencil by Empire.
The Plast-O-Cap has a plastic ferrule with a wide top for holding a large, brick-shaped eraser (ideal for those who make BIG mistakes!).
Beyond this, the Plast-O-Cap is of standard pencil fair---good, but not great; suited for school use.
Actually, the graphite in this particular one is very ...'silvery', but I dunno if that's characteristic of the Plast-O-Cap, or if it's just my imagination.

Returning to 'Pound Puppies',

I'm not a fan of the 80's Pound Puppies series.

The series's premise doesn't make sense to me (more on this later), and I hate the 'In Pups We Trust' episode (no hyperbole---I genuinely hate it!) so much so that it taints all the other episodes for me. :/

As for the 2010 series (since I know it'll be brought up by other watchers) ...I've seen only half an episode. ^^

Granted, it certainly looked better than the original, but the few minutes I watched was really all I cared to see of it ...and, no, I'll not be drawing any of the characters (but good night and good morning---there are a LOT of them!) ^^

Ok, so what're my issues with the 80's cartoon?

As I said, the premise doesn't make sense to me. The puppies live in a pound owned and operated by a little girl: Holly. Holly is described as the *only human in the world who can understand dog language (dogs, however, are able to understand the speech of any human who talks to them).

*the 'All New Pound Puppies' series changed this via something called 'puppy power', which enables good dog owners to understand their pets.

A child (Holly) running a pound by herself (as well as being allowed to) requires more suspension of disbelief than I can give this series.

As Holly's parents are nowhere to be found, she is under the guardianship of her evil aunt (Katrina), who wants to close the puppy pound, but cannot do it for some reason.
Every time Auntie Katrina threatens the pound, or devises some scheme against it, I think to myself, "Just close it".

I can understand a child inheriting a property, but IRL, whoever is guarding the child would have charge over the management of the child's property: the paying of its bills, taxes and so forth---a child (an underage person with no formal training, licenses, and so forth) cannot run a puppy pound.

Also, the pound has trouble earning enough to pay its bills, yet has an advanced 'Bat Cave' in its basement.

I know most people are able to look past this (and certainly there are cartoons I like that have equally ludicrous premises), but I'm not most people---at least not where it comes to 'Pound Puppies'.

I suppose I can attribute this to the fact I'm not a dog person ...like seriously not a dog person---cats ftw! =^..^=
Dogs are too needy, whereas cats (for the most part) take care of themselves. Granted, most cats couldn't care less if their owners lived or died ...unless they can get to the body ...ok, my mind's going in dark places! ^^

Anyway,

For the curious, here's the first episode of the original 'Pound Puppies' series (link tested 05/04/2021): www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mw_QHg…

FAIR WARNING: if you watch this episode, the song 'Do the Twist' will be stuck in your head all day.

On a final note, I did a brief search on eBay for vintage 'Pound Puppies' merch ...and discovered this monstrosity: sta.sh/0xcfzjuaoun
