I was inspired by steampunk... but instead of strictly the steam era, it would be between the 1850s and 1985... in a world filled with talking turtles, 'mushrooms', and dinosaurs...
I'm glad you like it!

aww helll noo! lol. I don't even think there's anything I could get from that source to use as a joke! Although I love that movie, it was stupid... and probably to blame for all the "badassyoshiraptor!!!"s out there.

I kind of liked how mushroom was just a weird blobish abomination.. those who came up with that mario vision clearly interpreted everything way too dystopically.

I think it would be actually a different movie if people wouldn't associate it with a video game, since you want to see exact same things. And its just a battle of tastes.
I feel right now how underrated it is..

Also, I hate the superbadassified versions of super mario out there... yoshi isn't a dang raptor... peach isn't a stripper... and mushrooms aren't halucinagenic... lewis carol was writing about algebra and i think nintendo was commenting on a post catastrophic society that went to war right after it started to make ground on reconstruction... but of course that's not nearly as powerful an idea as "heh mairyo squished the guts outta a turdle" lol...

lol... so gross... haha. or mario, a literal fat man, riding yoshi, a literal tyrannosaurus rex... It's neat that someone would do that... but it's not exactly the point...

The toads found baby peach wandering around or whatever... and had prophecies left over from the reign of a previous fallen star... they knew what she was to an extent even though they were confused about exactly how to care for her... Luckily for peach, toads are obsessively cleanly... so they were able to figure out that those weird objects growing inside her mouth had to be cleaned and that her hair was more brittle than female toad's hair so they had to make softer brushes for it... just mundane stuff like that... Mario and Luigi "landed" on dinosaur island and were raised by yoshis and then shy guys (who still never showed their faces to them) I think that's why the brothers have such a connection to the colors red and green... the more acrobatic and adventurous brother, Mario took to the shy guys' training very well and has an emotional connection to the red they wear... while the gentle more reserved brother responds to the soothing greens like his mama yoshi.
The boys in general are rough and tumble... Both are soft spoken but mario is in a stoic way, he just has very little to say. Luigi is quiet out of being awkward, shy, and observant. Mario is the one who would run in and bash something, Luigi is more tactical... They are truely altruistic and can afford to be, because they are two of three known humans in the whole world...

I'll have to do one with all three soon... I need to practice interacting figures anyway.

Addendum... Toads, Goombas, and Nokis all share common ancestry so information about their anatomy is pretty much universal...
Toads and their kin do have teeth... one each on a kind of radular tongue... although anatomically, they are very similar to earth mollusks, they meet the requirements to be classified as mammals (maybe a kind of mammolusk!) anyway... They grow hair (males grow facial hair), females menstruate, and young suckle... The major differences are that goombas retained the squat body plan on four legs (usually only visible as two) and nokis retained the shell growth on their cranial mantle.
With that said, the titular "fallen stars" would be foreign to most inhabitants of this world... but only a little foreign to toads...
