There are alot of really appealing parts to this image. First of all having different textures (rocks, water, sky) makes it really interesting. Also there is alot of depth to this picture, with the very close rocks in the foreground, another outcropping of rocks further away and then the mountains on the other side of the lake. The framing of the picture is really nice too with alot of the details (rocks and tree) to one side. Also the sky is a really amazing shade of blue.
The one thing that I think could improve it would be to crop it slightly to remove the little bit of that other tree that is showing on the right. The title is "Sentinel" and the focus is supposed to be on the one lone tree, but seeing a little bit of another tree distracts from that somewhat. I think the impact would be greater if it wasn't there.
