I wonder just how much you owe to the great Gustave Dore in your manipulations...
But a fantastic manipulation it is. Hopefully it will not be too long before I can pick up Adobe CS4 and work on my skills in that area as well.

Haha well, fortunately for me he's long dead. I am able to reproduce his engravings in ink though, but that would take me at least 30 hours so this is a more productive alternative.
I can't wait to get a new computer so I can use CS4 again. Right now my computer is having trouble with CS2 because it has gotten so damn slow.

I really never tire of seeing his work reproduced on black metal merchandise! I have a few cd's and an Averse Sefira shirt that contains it.
Heh, yes, you are able to come pretty close to approximating his quality in your drawings, but as I know there's a pretty big difference in the price tag between even an excellent manipulation and a totaly origional work of art.
I really must pick up a few of his art books, as he's been one of the bigger recent influences on my artwork, and it would be useful to have better reference than the internet.

I think I have pretty much all of his engravings or at least a big portion of it. I have 2 books, one huge bible and one series of 3 big bibles. All together I have 692 of DorΓ©'s engravings at a large scale. 367 of which you've probably never seen and probably don't want to see. They're of Africans, Indonesians, merchants and other of those worldly things. Technically superior of course, but the subject matter is incredibly boring to me.
I am also fascinated by Albrecht DΓΌrer. I have 2 books of him I believe. I hope one day I will find a good book of Jan van Eyck, another one of my idols throughout history. The ones I've found contained his work at a very small scale so it's of no use to me.

Albrecht Durer is another fairly big influence for me. I'd like to do a self portrait after his best known one some time...
I'm probably going to be more interested in the culteral studies Dore did a bit more than yourself, and will probably find a book containing them at some point. I've found a massive version of Dante's works, with probably most of the work Dore did for him contained within, and need to aquire it soon.

Nice. Is it anywhere online? I've never read Dante's works though I've always wanted to.

I haven't looked for it online. It's at our Barnes and Noble in the discount section, although it's still a bit of an expense for me being such a huge book...

Ahh I see. I don't think we even have a Barnes and Noble.
When you do buy it, could you give me the book's code so I could track it down?

This is a great design. The colours and textures work beautifully. Reminiscent, I think, of some of Gustave Dorè's works. I'm thinking recent illustrations used on some recent Emperor merchandise.

Nah that would take me at least 30 hours. It's a photo-manipulation of engravings.

I love Dorè's works and I like how you used and combined it with another artwork, but kept your style clearly visible.

The tormented souls are part of an engraving by Gustave DorΓ©; The engraving of Lucifer isn't.
Thank you for your kind words.

Once again, beautiful design and excellent execution! I'd love to see the process start to finish...

Thanks a lot man. Ahh the process would be a long one.
Not sure if you can find the illustration of Lucifer online, but if you compare you will notice a few clever things, like the wings that were cut off which I made whole again, and a circle that went around his body with a few souls walking on it that I removed.

You're welcome. I think I'd find the process very interesting. I've found the illustration online (hence my avatar), but it wasn't the greatest resolution. Since you didn't find it online, where did you get it from, if you don't mind me asking? I did notice the editing of the wings right off the bat.

Ohh I didn't even notice it in your avatar.
Well, I did find it on Internet but I wouldn't know where. I've had it for quite a while. I have a large collection of engravings.

And for that I am jealous.
What ever happened with the problems when your hard drive (?) crashed? Did you get all the info and files back?

No, unfortunately all of that is still lost. I had to re-build my collections.
