I love the red winged thingies. It's great that they are accented with red, it makes them look vicious

Oh, god that is creepy! In a good way, that is. The idea of the unfathomable depths beyond your deranged, baby-faced creatures.... horrifying. This puts into a picture what I sometimes dream of when I'm very ill. Eurgh.
Speaking of baby faces, have you ever seen Terry Gilliam's Brazil? He makes extensive use of it. very spooky.

I think that this piece of work here has some meaning to it. Like a form of symbolism of some sort in it... ...If you're going to ask me what it is, I have no clue, but I'm going to be pondering this for a while...I'll find out eventually.

I do like the fusion of artistic reference in this piece. I can see a nice slice of Japanese silk painting style... as well as a strong reference to medieval biblical art... yet the fusion of the two dovetails nicely together.
Also there are A LOT of very subtle semiotics in this image from the anguish on the doll-like harpy type creature's faces that have strangely feminine and child-like traits. The uncertainty of their intent (are they suffering, or suffering because they can no longer spread their lies...? The large lizard-like creature with the curious human face is also a duality of intent... is it looking on with casual interest, but ultimately more concerned with it's own plans or is it simply sizing up the next source of food...
The piece has an air of both the sinister and the benign to it....
Which I feel reflects it's title perfectly.
