It's been a while since I've submitted something, hasn't it?
I've changed my fandom of interest. And this time it's not just a fandom but something my country, Ukraine, still has to deal with.
April 26th, 1986 was the date when the worst nuclear accident ever has occured. Chernobyl nuclear power plant was the object of pride to the Soviet Union... until reactor number 4 exploded. Irradiated area for 30 kilometers around the plant is still uninhabitable, and won't be for at least the next 20000 years.
I've made this picture being heavily inspired by "Chernobyl" series made by HBO, also - by documentaries I've watched, interviews I've listened to and articles and memories I've read. I was terrified when I've finally understood the scale of this disaster.
It's not just about the disaster itself. It's more about the people who sacrificed their health and their lives for us to be safe. And it's about the people who were harmed and killed by an invisible enemy - ionizing radiation.
This picture, made to 35 years of the Chernobyl tragedy, is devoted to them.
To all innocent people and especially Liquidators who's still alive, may them live long and happy lives.
To all who hasn't come back home, who's no longer with us... May they always be remembered. Vichnaya Pamyat'...
