Description

UPDATE: This version of the comic is scrapped for now. However, I will be revisiting it later, starting over from the beginning.

Mass Effect: Hide And Seek Pages:
l< Start / Next>

See List Of All Pages

It might not look like it yet, but this is a Mass Effect Comic.

Edit: Arg! I always notice faults immediately after I post something. I will post an updated version of this soon.

Edit 2: Ok, I fixed the few things that were bothering me. Nothing major. Just fixed a shadow, corrected an area where my tone bled outside of a line, and added some highlights to the mug.

Edit 3: Oh, I probably should have seen this coming since I haven't established who anybody is yet, but I see now there is quite a bit of confusion about who these characters are. They're OCs. Don't worry, they won't hijack the plot. The Normandy (sir not appearing on this page) will be making their appearances in this comic soon.

Edit 4: NOW IN COLOR!

Mass Effect and all characters belong to Bioware (and I guess EA?) This is just a fan-comic that I make absolutely no money from in any way. I really just enjoy Mass Effect and I'm not done hanging out with the characters I've become so attached to.Β

Feel free to repost this work on other websites, just do not claim it as yours and remember to link back to this page.Β

Thanks. I'm sort-of inspired byΒ ~iichna Β andΒ *ErsbethShadowsong . If you haven't already, you should definitely check them out. They make fantastic Mass Effect comics. ErsbethShadowsong has been especially helpful to me and always has great advice.

ErsbethShadowsong's art is amazing, I was following her comic for a while, I am still learning how to create relationship plot....(still don't understand how things work between two people)
I haven't read iichna's comic throughly yet.
Still I am hoping to create something different than everyones work. I guess that artist and writer like you and I want to do.

Yeah. I mean, I thought about doing a FShep and Garrus story, but there are already two artists doing and they're doing a lot better than I could do. So I'm trying for something completely new and different that hasn't been done in comics or written fan-fiction. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't. Either way, I'll have gotten some useful experience. That's what matters, right?Β

RMTG In reply to Maskydoo [2013-07-15 16:44:20 +0000 UTC]

Well, I think you can still do Femshep/Garrus comic, but using a different perspective(I am doing it too, but just more like in the ME2 part...).
Also, the story telling can be very different.
Like I won't be doing too much mission details and existed plot. Or if doing it do it in a completely different way.

I think elements are all the same in this world, but how we organize and reorganize them makes different result(even story can related to science!).

IT'S HERE! IT HAS BEGUN!

Ok, ok... sorry for the caps... I'm so happy to see this finally taking shape!!

I like a lot the lines here, you made them so smoothly and delicate and you made them look easy when they are not easy at all! My fav is the first panel, it's very well done and planned: simple and direct.

Next? Next? Next?

I'm working on the second page. I was actually hoping I could have that up a few days ago. Unfortunately, it will take a few pages to get for the story to get going. Right now, it's not even recognizable as a Mass Effect comic. But it's getting there. I just started on a cover too.

I try real hard in the line-art. But it's still not as smooth as I'd like. I'm going to check some tutorials and see how I can do better.

Thanks!

ErsbethShadowsong In reply to Maskydoo [2013-07-11 20:26:49 +0000 UTC]

My piece of advice here is: don't rush it, take your time and work on those lines until you are satisfied with the result. And don't worry about when it will be recognizable as a ME comic! Sometimes you just need to present the characters before the action starts. Each story has its own pace.

Cover!

Checking tutorials is a good idea! I hope you find good ones. I'm afraid that I cannot help you there... I avoid lines at all costs

No problem!

I'm almost done writing the full script, beginning-to-end. It looks like it's going to take me at least 100 pages. If I can hammer out a page every week or so... This might take a while.

Who are the characters in this comic?

Maskydoo In reply to LadyIlona1984 [2013-07-06 00:17:44 +0000 UTC]

I'm avoiding naming the woman for now, because spoilers. But she isn't Shepard or anyone you meet in the games, nor related to anyone you meet in the games, although one of your crew does mention her. (That's kind of a big hint, I know.)

But anyway, the woman and child are the wife and son of a human ambassador from the EU. The ambasador's name is Jaron Brant, and the boy is Evren. The woman will be named later, but I'm avoiding doing so right now.Β Jaron is on the citadel to work with Ambassador Udina on claiming some words for colonization.

I stand corrected. They're OCs

I found this on HikingHumanist's homepage;

Hide And Seek

When a human ambassador visits the Citadel to file claims on various planets sought for human colonization on behalf of the European Union, he thought nothing of bringing his wife and five-year-old son, Evren, along with him. No one predicted that their hotel would be broken into by a group of Turian mercenaries, apparently hired by a Batarian slaver group. When the Batarians demand a ransom in the form of humans handing over all colonized worlds the Batarians covet in return for the kidnapped Evren, and risk causing full-scale war between the Human Alliance and the Terminus Systems, Counselor Udina calls in a favor with a certain Spectre he knows.

When the Normandy crew investigates, they discover that not all is as it first seems. Even in the case of the young Evren, there is more than meets the eye.

Set during the events of Mass Effect 1.
