Description

UPDATE: This version of the comic is scrapped for now. However, I will be revisiting it later, starting over from the beginning.

It might not look like it yet, but this is a Mass Effect Comic.

It's 2 in the morning. I've probably made all kinds of mistakes that I'll have to fix later. But it's time for bed.

Edit: Added some words to the first panel since there seemed to be a bit of confusion. I'm only three pages in, so not much is established yet.

Edit 2: Is there anyone here who knows Turkish? Is Baba what children would call their fathers? I have no idea.

Mass Effect and all characters belong to Bioware (and I guess EA?) This is just a fan-comic that I make absolutely no money from in any way. I really just enjoy Mass Effect and I'm not done hanging out with the characters I've become so attached to.

Feel free to repost this work on other websites, just do not claim it as yours and remember to link back to this page.

Oh, good!
These two characters are meant to be Turkish, but I know absolutely nothing about that. (There is a reason I've made them Turkish, but it's soilery to say why at this stage.)
Thanks!
If you wouldn't mind helping me a bit, what would a boy call his mother?

Anne......pronounced as: an-ne

officially Dad is 'Ata' but Baba is used the most

Officially Mom is 'Ana' but Anne is used the most ^_^

So use Baba and Anne (An-ne)

Those are words a child would use, right? What other words might a Turkish (is that the right word when referring to a person? I really don't know and I don't want to offend anyone.) child commonly use? Are there maybe an expressions I should know?

Thanks a lot, you've been very helpful!

Well, when a parent addresses a son it would be: oğlum (oolum) the ğ is a silent letter in the Turkish alphabet

When a parent addresses a daughter it would be: kızım (the i's have no dots because it sounds different to an ordanary i)

I hope it helps :3

Oh! Awesome. Are those words for father and son, or are they commonly used in place of the child's name like mother and father are?

Thanks again! Sorry if I'm bothering you, I just want to get this right.

Hi! I have another question. I found the name Evren when looking up Turkish names. Would such a name be considered odd? I was thinking about naming the boy that. I mean, Alabaster is an English name, but it would be kind of a weird one and I don't want his name to seem too strange. What do you think?

Soon! I'm trying to get in to a weekly schedule.

I wish I had someone else to color for me though because I suck at it.

Coloring is pain My problem was, coloring takes hours and usually I thought that lineart isn't good enough to waste so much time to colour it. But then I figured out how to use bucket tool without getting ugly white edge

Maskydoo In reply to kupieckorzenny [2013-10-22 16:48:31 +0000 UTC]

How do you avoid the ugly white edge? Seriously, it's the bane of my existence.

kupieckorzenny In reply to Maskydoo [2013-10-22 16:52:08 +0000 UTC]

I set lineart layer to multiply and than copy it a few times, until transparent edges of lines are completely black, then merge them all, remove the white and just fill with colour on separate layers. But the shapes have to be closed, and I sometimes get some white spots because of lineart's imperfections.
