Juuichi's Zanpakuto, "Nenshouryuu" uses the element of fire for it's attacks. When in Shikai, Juuichi can use his Zanpakuto to slash through almost anything. Nenshouryuu uses it's fire to heat it's blade to a such a high temperature, that when the blade comes into contact with something, the blade will cut it into like a burning red knife slicing through melted butter. The red cloth that's wrapped around Juuichi's arm and the base of the handle can extend, which allows him to swing Nenshouryuu up to a distance of 50 ft.

Bio: Years ago when Kisuke Urahara was Captain of the 12th Division, Juuichi was a full fledged Shinigami who was positioned in the 11th Division of the 13 Court Guard Squad. He was kind of favored by Captain Kenpachi since he was the only one brave/stupid enough to spar with Captain Kenpachi. Unfortunately for Juuichi, he was trying to keep the fact that he could use Bankai a secret from the others, especially from his captain.

Juuichi was on patrol one night, when he suddenly heard screams. Juuichi rushed to see what happened, but to his surprise, what he saw when he arrived was 5th Captain Shinji Hirako and others being surrounded and defeated by what looked like Hollows. Juuichi was frightened beyond all belief but he knew what he had to do, he turned around to go retrieve help. But when he turned around, what he saw was... a Hollow.

Juuichi then later woke up nearly 2 weeks after the incident. Not wanting to remember what happened, he just went back to his usual duties. Everything seemed normal but Juuichi wasn't feeling well. Of course he had injuries from what happened, but the pain that he was feeling was coming from deep within him. He quickly ran to an empty area. The pain brought Juuichi down to his knees, coughing and vomiting, Juuichi felt like he was dying. But then something started to happen. Thick white fluid poured out of Juuichi's mouth in place of vomit. The liquid began to wrap it's self around Juuichi's head. Before he knew it, the liquid encased his whole head. After a few minutes, the liquid solidified and then shattered, revealing a mask similar to a Hollow's! Patrolling shinigami discovered Juuichi but didn't realize it was him. They thought that a Hollow had infiltrated the Seireitei once again, so they alerted everyone! Juuichi had to either die or run, so he ran. But no matter where he ran, Juuichi was found by other shinigami. So he ran to the one place that gave him a better chance of safety, the world of the living.

Soon after arriving in the living world, the mask that was stuck to Juuichi's face, had cracked and fallen off. Juuichi then sought out Urahara and begged him to make him a Gigai and to erase his memories of being a Shinigami and implant memories of being human. Urahara granted Juuichi his wish, and is currently living amongst the humans, in secret, unknowing of what happened to him, and what he has become.
