Sorry for asking this question, but I have to know. Did you really use only one RAW for this picture?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

ZakRoundsPhoto In reply to RazPhotographie [2011-12-02 19:09:51 +0000 UTC]

You take a action picture in RAW format. Then depending on what program you use... Myself = PS5. Change the exposure levels +/- 2 or whatever you want. then combine the pictures like a normal HDR image.

mat3jko In reply to RazPhotographie [2011-11-21 18:09:42 +0000 UTC]

yes only raw with -2, 0 and +2 export exposure

jmanwithplan [2011-03-30 08:16:39 +0000 UTC]

So I'm trying to figure out what you did. You shot in raw, and used software like photomatrix to duplicate the picture? how many different exposure and how far apart? I wish you could give me an exact run down of the post processing of this, because it's so seller! I even want to know what speed you shot it at because I'm having a hard time getting action shots in HDR with my new camera.

mat3jko In reply to jmanwithplan [2011-03-30 23:17:08 +0000 UTC]

i shot in raw, than from raw i save 3 different exposures

-2, 0, +2, then i make HDR from these pictures in photomatix.. and after that i opened it in photoshop an retouch..

thinkGIMP [2011-03-10 12:00:09 +0000 UTC]

As far as I understand your procedure, you didn't create a real HDR image. One RAW image from a normal DSLR can never have the dynamic range of a real HDR image, because the image sensor can't capture such a high dynamic range.
So all what you did is use tone mapping artifacts as a special effect.
Nevertheless I think this is an extraordinary picture!

mat3jko In reply to thinkGIMP [2011-03-11 08:41:30 +0000 UTC]

but images from raw will be still more interesting and more nice than true HDR photos from 3 and more exposures..

thx

it sux

thinkGIMP In reply to mat3jko [2011-03-11 13:22:39 +0000 UTC]

HDR with exaggerated tone mapping artifacts sucks!
The procedure itself can help you to create images of motifs with extreme contrasts without over-/underexposed areas on the image.

memod [2011-01-07 14:10:50 +0000 UTC]

That looks really great, I love how you composed the shot, it's really dynamic. Light and contrast are very strong, too, and definitely make this photo pop out. I'm usually not a big fan of HDR, but here it's really subtle and helps to bring out the gritty texture of the quad and the driver. Great stuff!
