This map is about a fictional country that could have existed nowadays if history of United Kingdom of the Netherlands had been different. It would be an unitary republic named Belgobatavia whose capital city would be Brussels. And only French would be the official language. It would be composed of 21 provinces.Related content

Well, language was one of the causes of Belgian Revolution. In an alternate history maybe the country could have remained united if French had been adopted as official language.

It could be in that way. Or not. Belgium was fine during much time with French as official language, and most of Belgian people did not speak French...
