Description ball point pen of a hawk that resides at the park that i work at. one of the other park rangers took a picture of this red tail right after it made a kill. i doodled the head and added the crown as a quick after-thought

That crown is the balls. I agree with ~OneStripe, the combination of ink pressure is really sweet and accentuates the strength of both pieces. Pretty amazing for a doodle and an after thought.

the hawk was done in a light hlf-tone, like the Lincoln. the crown was pushed on full-blast. this drawing was done surprisingly fast...

The difference between the harder ink on the crown and the lighter on the hawk makes him look quite soft and feathery, pretty sweet.
