Description Just a little something I knocked up

The planet took the longest to make, the rocks are from a photo I took where I live in the french alps with some photoshopping.

Whoa! It looks good. Kinda lonely place in the fringes of space.

My interpretation? From the title, I say that this is Jupiter's moon Europe (although I know that the moon has a quite different look...) after some kind of tragedy occurred in the space colonies there... Beats me.

i really like the foreground - background thing here. most ppls planet pictures just feature a couple of planets with pretty much the same distance to the observer and therefore appear flat. i like, that you did a better job then them.

This was really just a practise of compositing and matte painting...

very well done - especially the blending of colors. if you hadn't said where the rocks came from, i would have thought they were 'painted'.

as far as a simple critique: i'm thinking about category. there's a gap between my understanding of your subject and surrealism. not to say that your piece is lacking... it certainly is beautiful, but i would tend to think that it would belong in another, more structured category. it's obvious you put a lot of hard work and time into the piece, but the main force behind surrealism is chance. surrealists strived to achieve a level of unadulturated thought when they created art. it was highly experimental, and sought to break all the rules. that's why you get such wildly juxtaposing subjects in most of Dali's work. at the same time, i'd love to see you create a more surreal work. you have considerable skill as an artist, and i'd expect any pieces you'd create to be very startling.

Advanced Critique hmm...? Well interpretations for a start rather than "enterpritations"

I think you've done a great job, I could picture a wolf in there on the rocks - cliche I know.
