Finally "finished" this, although I'm not too happy with the background. I kind of rushed that part and didn't plan the composition too well. With hindsight I wouldn't have done the grass and would've spent more time on the detailing of the ground areas of the picture. It's been a good experience to do this animal and I've learnt some useful for stuff so that if I have to do an animal drawing in the future, I'll hopefully have learnt from my mistakes on this drawing.Time taken:
Approx 80 hours, most od which was on the cat.

Mars Lumograph pencils
Woodless Graphite pencils
Electric eraser

Excellent! I love the soft texture of the fur.
This is not a critique, merely a suggestion for your consideration, you might have not blended the branches so much, if they were rougher, it would have made a nice contrast against the softness of the cat. Maybe something to keep in mind for future projects.

This is very well done, I've drawn a few cats so I understand how time consuming they can be, just one little thing I noticed which you may like to keep in mind for the next drawing if including backgrounds. My eyes kept being distracted by the detail in the wood in the picture it sort of detracted from viewing the beautiful cat, if doing this in the future I recommend either dropping down the details or the tones on the background to keep the eye's focus on the cat itself.
PS - I love the whiskers, how did you do them? Negative drawing? Electric eraser?

Thanks very much for the comments. Yeah, I'm aware that I made some mistakes with regards to parts of the picture distracting from the cat itself and hopefully in the future I won't make the same mistakes again.
The whiskers were a pain to do because they're so thin but it was just a case of drawing up to the negative space as neatly and precisely as possible. I did use an electric eraser also just to define some of the more white parts of the whiskers but the electric eraser was too thick to use to make the whiskers on its own.

nice! the composition is ok...the grass is a bit overly uniform though, and the log furthest in the background should be less detailed. If you could soften/lighten it, it would help. But over all, very nice work.

I think the eyes of the cat draws one's own eyes there first, and so the background becomes of no importance for a while.
And the cat is gorgeous, so well done, and he/she is the key here
Then, because the tree is drawn so crisp, I was just mesmerized by that for a while.
The ground, in my opinion, looks good, too, because it feels like it's off focus. Since it does, it looks absolutely great like that (somewhat blurred, not overdetailed).
The grass must have been hard to do, trying to draw it right
