Description I haven't drawn anything in a while, and I just bought a new sketchbook... So I drew up a 1920's inspired scene from the arcade classic Donkey Kong! I gave the two of them a bit of a redesign, with spaghetti limbs and such. The original Donkey Kong was inspired by Popeye the sailor, so I thought the style would be a perfect fit.

Donkey Kong really does seem like a classic cartoon in video game form. Love it!

Looks good. I'd say you captured the look quite well. Particuarly with the stretch and squash-ish buildings and the "Pacman" eyes.

I could actually notice quite a bit of Bluto in DK before I saw it in your description.

And interesting take, I haven't seen very many 1920 style things. Unique and very well done!

Mario Looks a bit more "Mickey Mouse"-like, then Popeye-like, (or at least in the eyes) but nice job. You captured the 1920s/30s style of cartoons perfectlly here. I like the nicelly detailled background to.

Also, I like how you kept DK's old plus sign ++++ style teeth. I always liked those.

Haha! Yes! I love those teeth too! If there's one toothy grin I prefer on DK that would be it.

You mean grayscale? This is based in the 1920's after all.

But yeah, I should be coloring most of my drawings, or at least clean them up and pen them.

Back in those days they used to draw gorilla noses as pure black dog-like noses I noticed.

Hmm, yeah, I didn't really know that when I drew this. I don't think eye's were ever drawn that way either. Oh well, I like the way he turned out. He's very much Rare's DK, but with a bit of an old timey flair going on.

Mario definitely has more of the 1920's in him.
