“It begins on a dark night … where a dark man waits … for a dark purpose.” The evil, conniving, lying, sorcerer form Aladdin is my third Truly Evil Transformation. Jafar changes not once, but twice. I wanted to include all of the equally evil forms of Jafar, but not have them compete too much with each other.
“I’m just getting warmed up.” I wanted Jafar to be completely engulfed in flames. He uses flames in the movie when battling Aladdin, and I really wanted to emphasize his hot temper. In this piece Jafar is in a way, admiring his own power and transformations. I used the fiery colors of the Genie and the snake to make them seem to be coming from the flames and to blend in. I didn’t want them to stand out too much. I didn’t want them too hidden, but I wanted Jafar to be the focal point.
I added the purple lighting/electricity to add a pop of color and a different powerful element besides the flames.
I’ve added text to all of my Truly Evil Transformations. I try to choose quotes that are used about the transformation. I chose “The universe is mine to command, to control” to emphasize the power and control that Jafar was after. He was a villain that was never happy. He always needed more power. I hand wrote the text to slightly resemble a kind of Arabic font.
