My favorite of all pulp heroes (with Tarzan and the Shadow close behind) Doc was the original Superman. Though not overtly super-powered, he was physical superior to the best human athletes, mentally superior to the best scientists and inventors, and morally upright as could be. He was called the Man of Bronze, has a Fortress of Solitude near ther North Pole, and his first name was Clark, which may have inspired some details about a later character. Despite his amazing abilities, Doc was a very human character, which allowed readers to relate to him.

Doc Savage was created by Lester Dent, who wrote most of his adventures under the house name Kenneth Robeson. He is the property of Conde Nast.
