I traveled in many countries during the last 10 years, and Grand Canyon is one my "top places", especially because it was winter (so less people).

First of all, I love your image. Beautiful color! The storm clouds are just fantastic.Β
Second, is the air usually this much clearer in the winter than in the summer? When I went this June, I could barely capture anything due to the haze.
I was very disappointed, but plan to return on the north side and hike rim to rim. When is the best time of the year for photography in/of the canyon?

I only visited Grand Canyon in winter and you're right, there no haze during this season. Some of my friends visited it in summer and I could see in their picture that everything was like "burned" by the sun. Definitely loved to do it in winter, with amazing storms and lights !
